Got my wife E90 318d in for its first service today .
Oil and micro filter change.
Price £235- R3500

I sat there and got that down to £200 -R3k based on their price match policy.

An independant dealer is half the price but I'm bound by their " service with us or we won't uphold your warranty"
Before you guys ask- we don't have the motoplan scheme here.

ANGRY ANGRY

The Ms in tomorrow for its COR equivalent .
I certainly won't be giving it to the dealers for its big service in a few months time.

I'll bloody do the micro filters myself- and they can do the plugs and oil change.

Thieving skanks

DIY of course would be cheaper or for that matter taking to an independent workshop. Hmm, pretty much have a person over the barrel... :thumbdo:

Sorry bud

The only thing about the UK I did not like was the fact that parts and labor are too expensive.
I owned a few cars when I was there(not new) but the price of spares sometimes was the price of the car. :thumbdo:

How often do you have to get an MOT? From what I believe, it's much stricter than SA as we basically just a COR once when a car changes ownership and that's it.

Something has to be done about the bloody stealers! I remember BMW losing a case to a Chinese manufacturer for copying their X5. I don't propose we should go that far but some laws must be put in place if companies want to market their vehicles in any country.

They rip off us in every way, we get nothing worthwhile in trading in a car, and they spoil the fun of owning a car by continuously milking us because we buy their product!

It's like a shopping mall that wants us to shop there but charges us for parking our cars there! Bloody greed - looking at the opportunity to make millions out of a stagnant parking space while raking in billions of revenue already from the rent they get from businesses! Similar principle! :nonono:

MOT is done every year once the car becomes 3 years old.
Another rip off but if done correctly by a dealer then worthwhile at the point of purchase.

Re these dealers.... "Mann" products are the OEM parts just boxed differently . So you can't even supply filters even if they are Mann- go figure

You're right... When buying a car , you get charged an arm an a leg for extras- then take it back to the same salesman during trade in and he gives you a kak value wen even though you say " but it's got all these bits"
He then sticks the car on the forecourt at an above average price for resale stating " it's that price because Its got all these wonderful extras" when he didn't value it at the point of trade in.

I sshpit in the faces of these salesman- unscrupulous snakes

I imported MANN micro filters since they are BMW OEM. Paid R220 (landed in SA) each vs the R550 from the dealers.
Also the BMW fuel filter carries the MANN branding next to the BMW logo. Do this. The dealer will never know.
