COURTESY CAR UNDER MOTORPLAN

Hi Guys,

So just a quick one, my vehicle is a 2012 e92 335i to which I have just extended the MP for the last time (it actually paid off as a lot went wrong this year).....

Booked it in last week for today (9/11) at Auto Bavaria Midrand and told them what is wrong with the vehicle....when i get there the guy whose booking in my vehicle tells me it needs to be there till Friday and i now have to arrange for alternative transport....which is really an inconvenience to be told this on the day.

Called and asked for a courtesy car and was told that my vehicle is over 5 years old and doesn't qualify for the courtesy car option....... is this true?

Last time they given me a courtesy car when my car was in for some shock mountings and alternator replacement which was this year.

Does anybody know of this "5 year courtesy car policy" that the booking guy is now telling me about?

So now i gotta pick my car up today, drop it off again tomorrow etc is what they telling me......

Thanks for the help

They only provide a courtesy car if your car is still under the manufacturers 'warranty' period which is for cars under 3 years old.

The courtesy car is dependent on availability and the willingness of the dealership to arrange one :dunnoanymore:

That being said my car was at Auto Bavaria in Feb this year for a new steering rack and control arms, a courtesy car was arranged

Yip.....depends on the dealer.....

You only get a loan car if you get stuck on the road somewhere due to a mechanical issue.

Correct on your last statement, they damaged my control arm hence the courtesy car was arranged without me even requesting one :roflol:

I was told dealers don't offer this anymore, it can only be done if your car is brought in through BMW On Call and under plan.

UPDATE:

So phoned BMW SA who advised that a courtesy car can be given to a client booking in a vehicle for service at the dealerships discretion - doesn't need to be under plan or younger then 5 years etc.....

:cartel: it pays to get to know your dealer better - they will go out their way to assist where needed - dont just expect it because your car is on plan, I get and none of my cars are on plan.

Just ask for one , , I had a courtesy 320d for over a month from the dealer when my e46 went in . Just ask them in advance so they can keep one for you.

I think it boils down to your relationship with the dealer and how much of a fuss you make/don't make about it.

I've been fortunate to have courtesy cars provided when mine went in for repairs under plan and also for normal services as well.

Depends on how busy the dealership is.
The less busy dealers (regardless of which brand) tend to offer courtesy vehicles with less hassle.

As a side note, even though I am closer to Midrand, I prefer driving all the way to JSN to service my car. Their service is tops.
