Correct Battery for E34 535i

Hi there,

I currently have a 652 in this E34 535i and it's busy giving me a lot of problems now. I need to replace as the date stamp is 2005 and was wondering if the 652 was strong enough for the car? For the last few months if the car was not driven for 2 days, I had to jump start it and last night when I left the office, it indicated that it is dying on me. Must I go for a bigger 1 or not? I have always added that extra security devices after it was stolen but it never went flat within 12 hours like yesterday.
Any advice please?

There is something wrong with the car itself. :) You need to sell it to me ASAP.

Other than that, check the manual bro. They should indicate the correct battery. Stick to that, I would suggest, unless you are running some serious ICE.

Sell? Nope sorry, I will stick with my car troubles thanks, drives very nice.:nono:

Don't have a owner's manual on it, just a haynes that says nothing at all and google didn't help much.

The battery resellers says put in a 652 again, something is telling me that is not the right size. Maybe I will phone BMW tomorrow.:)

652 is wrong, this is for the old 535i E28

You can use a 654CV (85Ah) or a 658 (100Ah)

Check with any battery place, but I think the above is correct

654 is listed battery which is 175 mm high , 175 mm wide and 352 mm long 80 amp hour 21 kg mass .
652 is 190mm high , 175 mm wide and 276 mm long 70 amp hour and 17.8 kg mass .
658 is 190 mm high , 175 mm wide and 352 mm long 100 amp hour 24.4 kg mass.
IMHO 654 is ok , 658- you may have to check if alternator can keep it fully charged .

My battery is also busy giving up the ghost!:bawling:

Was at Battery Centre during the week, they recommend a minimum of 80ah due to the amount of electronics in the beamer.:thinker:

However they say it won't hurt to go even bigger and get a 100ah battery as then for sure it will handle anything you can throw at it! As long as you have the space. My E39 can fit it in so that the way I am going. I remember something like a 658?:pimp:

Changed the battery and obc is showing PPPP now, what does this mean? I know it doesn't start.

This means that you battery is so flat with no power at all and it needs to be jumped tp start.
