Hey guys

On Saturday I was driving with 2 friends in Rosebank. All of a sudden, a police car behind us turned on the siren and signaled us to stop, and so we did. Two officers came towards us with enormous guns, told us to exit the vehicle and they searched it.

When they left us, one of the cops said "We won't leave you, you're in a BMW"...

Have any of you guys experienced "harassment" from the police because you drive a beemer?

it Happens all the time bud......esp when you leave sandton and go down oxford or corlett dr.

its crazy and the best is when they get funny and try to convince you had a couple of drinks or you have drugs

they crack me up.....i just give them the 3rd degree i plead the 5thlol

Actually, they did try convince us that we were at a party the night before and were still drunk... Keep in mind, we got stopped at 13:30 on Saturday afternoon...

Without turning this discussion into a racial one... Do indian and coloured BMW drivers experience the same thing?

I dont think its a bmw thing. cops are always trying their luck with everyone. About 3 years ago i got stopped atleast 15 times in that year.

I once got stopped, and the cop just wanted to check out my car. He was very poilite, told me he thought my car was really nice, asked if he could look at the engine bay and hear how the engine sounded when I revved it. It was quite refreshing.

Something similar happened to me a while back :argh:

I agreed to help my brother in law out to paint his house as he was working during the day and could only do it over weekends and seeing that i was on leeave i agreed i'll jump in during the day...
So i got my boilersuit on that i normally wear when doing paint jobs around the house and drove down to his house... on my way a cop car with 3 cops in it was driving like 40 in a 70 zone with the road clear ahead of them and this is 9 in the morning.
It was a double lane and they were driving in the right lane (fast lane) with me behind them and i decided to overtake them in the left lane as it was clear and safe to do so.....at least that is what i thought...
Next thing i hear is sirens and blue lights be hind me and they tell me to pull over on the loudspeaker....
I pulled over and 2 of the 3 got out and the older one ask me why i was speeding past them:blab:
I told him i was'nt speeding ...i was just overtaking them as they were doing like 40 and when i past them i was doing like 60....
Then this young cunt ask me whose car it is that i'm driving:argh:
I politely told him it's the bank's car seeing that i'm still paying for it:tease:
Then the punchline came.....the bastard ask me how can i afford the car:argh::argh: just because i had a dirty boilersuit on.....
Then again i politely told him that I had a choice in life...
One for doing what i'm doing and that's why i can afford it and
Two i could have become a metrocop like him and ask stupid questions where it does'nt even matter:yuck:
The older one seemed to find it funny though and told me next time i should'nt overtake metrocops cause i could land into trouble:fishwack:
Anyway....i ask if they wanna fine me or not cause i dont have time for stupid arguments especially with dumbwits like the young one and they should get it over and done with....
they let me off and when i pulled away i made sure they could hear that sweet sound of a 6pot beemer:thumbs:

I think its a car thing.
Whenever I'd ride with my friend who owned a 323i E36, we'd always get stopped by cops, and search us.

Got stopped once, cop wanted to know if my car for sale ?

Makes me think, they stopped me in a road block a while back, so one of the question was."Do you have any weapons in the vehicle ?", To which I answered, "No!, Why, are you selling ?", The guys standing around cracked up laughing at the guy who asked the question, as he still, till today probably did not get what I was asking him.

If you drive an older model BMW or Golf, you generally going to be pulled over by the cops.

I've only been pulled over once by an unmarked GTI because I overtook without using an indicator. Was rushing to an exam so wasn't really thinking.

If you drive an older model BMW or Golf, you generally going to be pulled over by the cops.

If you are more than one young guy in a BMW you also get pulled over a lot.

Never had this in East London , but is nice to pass speed trap with cops sitting there then down to 2nd and chase red line . ( one day there will be second one 500 m later - oops )
