Hi Guys

Sorry I cant find the time to research this type of car to find out what are the common problems.

My cousin has this car. Bought from new. Now the plan has come to the end and he considers keeping it. The car currently has 70k km on the clock. Please advise if its a troublesome thing. Also he mentioned the tires are quite difficult to find 205/45 17. Can fatter tires fit on the standard jcw wheels? Going further what preventative maintenance should be done?

Thanks

There was issues with engine knocking and heard some had turbo problems with higher mileage.

Carbon build up is also a concern on these direct injection engines.

Tyres? Maybe some one else can help. Not too sure on the whole tyre subject.

What year model?
Problems - timing chain, engine knocking, injectors, auto gearbox to name a few.

I wouldn't keep a Mini. Maybe I'm jaded but the stupid shit issues I see all the time makes me very wary of them. I mean, it's a Peugeot engine.

It's a 2012 model. That's quite a serious list of problems.

The R56 lci had most of these issues sorted and it was released in 2012 if I'm not mistaken. But the pre-lci is problematic. So I suggest you check which one you have and make your decision from there. If it was me, I would replace it.

The issue is with the earlier N14 engine, the later N18 engine had many updates to adress issues, but some are still present (hpfp, coking)

The jcw kept the n14 longer than the MCS iirc. You can tell the difference by looking at it.

N14.. Single VVT on intake only.. N18 Dual VVT.. latter way easier coping with timing issues as has VVT solenoids to adjust.. N14 was crude.. And CAM sprockets have no keyways.. So prone to slipping.
