Consumption figures

Since I did not get a chance to do any long distance driving in my 330d, I decided to use it on my recent trip to Durban and I was pleasantly surprised by the consumption. With the mods on the car, I did not exactly want a "fuel fairy", so it's not in the same league as a 320d, but considering the power/torque figures I'm pretty impressed.

Unfortunately, this was my first trip to Durban in this car, so I can't really benchmark against stock. Also, between JHB and Harrismith, there was some "spirited" driving. Kept to the speed limit for the rest of the way, but the traffic between PMB and Durban was cr@p, especially with the road works and annoying truck drivers. In any case, I did not intend a economy trip, but here's the stats, with a boot full and 3 people in the car:

Midrand to Durban: 5.8l / 100km (with about 10KM city driving in either city)
Durban to Midrand: 6.8l / 100km (with a round trip to Benoni before coming to Midrand).

Here's some pics when I got to my destination in Durban. According to the OBC, the 330d should get over 1000KM on a trip.

Full tank in Midrand and this is where the fuel needle stopped in Durban:

Can't think of many other cars that produce similar power and get anywhere near these consumption figures.

That's great consumption Mo, especially considering the power it makes. How did the "drive" feel, overtaking, uphills was probably not even noticed.

To be honest, it was actually f$kcen annoying trying to keep to the speed limit :fencelook:

But yes, overtaking was simply impressive. Did lots of left lane overtaking - can't believe how inconsiderate some drivers are, refusing to "keep left, pass right", especially the patch between PMB and Durban. Guys will do 80 in the right lane and not move over :thumbdo:

so true, its idiots like that not applying the rule of the road, keep left, pass right, that causes accidents.

MSM - Thats great figures. A little lower than mine but i reset mine here in JHB before i left on Friday evening and based my consumption on the total KM driven.

Basically, i did +- 1500km (JHB - DBN - Hooning it in DBN - Back to JHB).

My average speed on OBC was 125km/h and i managed 7.1L/100km.

When i say i was hooning it, i was really giving it.

I left Friday at 6:30pm, i was having a late supper at Wimpy in Overport at 11pm.
I had a couple of TLGP's in DBN over the weekend.
Left on Monday 1pm, was at the Sasol in Bedfordview topping up just before 6pm.

I also want a 330D :bangdesk:
I can help you. My buddy at Auto Bavaria has 3 e90 LCi 330d's on the floor - one Exec and two Sport packs. The exec is a 2009 with 33k km on the clock for R210k and he has a 2012 Sport pack with 7000km on the clock for R270k.

My average was actually close to that if I take all the Durban driving into account. I just reset the figures when I filled up and completed the journeys and excluded the Durban driving during the days in between.

But yes, given the performance of 330d's, these are brilliant consumption numbers and you can feel the additional response at the coast too, which makes it all the more difficult to drive conservatively.
