Considering the Golf 7 Gti

Hi Guys

As the title indicates, I am considering getting into a Golf 7 Gti. If I do purchase one it would be around a 2017 model with nothing more than 70 000km.

I would like to find out from those who have experience with this vehicle. What are the major issues that could occur and how is it as a every day runner in terms of costs.

Thanks in advance.

i just sold my 2015 golf 7 gti 2 weeks ago.

Vehicle was fully loaded and had every extra barring the NAV.

TBH one of the best daily's you could every buy. It never gave me a single issue. I had the car from brand new and sold her with 74k on the clock. I drove the car really hard its entire life and she was perfect.

If I was in the market for a hot hatch, honestly I wouldn't look at anything else.

The thing however about these hot hatches is that they are really hammered... especially on every take off... My 2c.

Would you mind sharing the details of the vehicle? Also the price you sold it for, if you don't mind sharing.

Do it, if you haven't already. So had one as a daily and as mentioned, car performed faultlessly. Reliable, fairly quick, practical as well.

Only thing the car went back to vw for was a faulty hooter, and blown cigarette lighter fuse in the 3 years of ownership.

How is the:

- water pump
- cam belt(chain?) and related tensioners etc ?

I had a golf 5 gti back in the day, think around 85 000km I had to change the water pump as it was starting to get noisy and would have eventually failed. The dealership did the other items mentioned above also at the same time.

The golf 5 gti's were very very hungry ito oil as the turbo used it and I used to add about 500ml every 1500 to 2000km depending on how hard I drove the car.

Golf 6 and 7, I understand they didn't use alot of oil.

My car was stock , so I didn't have any issues. The only caution I'd say is that if you go for a DSG gearbox- they are very expensive so make sure you get a good vehicle.

Check out the link below and maybe see if you can find anything related to your purchase.

Post pics when you get one :)
