Considering having my E92 325i ///M turbo'ed...

Welcome! :coolShake:

Firstly we need some pics of your E92! Love the coups!

Secondly Dewald has a point in that I am not sure how much boost the stock internals on the 325i can handle, you might get away with a stock motor at low boost just for some extra power and fun, but when you start running higher boost you might need forged parts, which are not that easy so come by for the E90x motors afaik.

All can be done, it's a matter of how much money and time you wish to invest! :=):

Hi Dewald

So basically what u saying is it would be pointless to turbo my engine?

Jip you will have to change so many parts to make it work that will cost you an arm and a leg. And then reliability becomes an issue. If you really want "easy" power try supercharging but even that can be a hassle. The easiest is to get a x35i and do software and what not to go faster.

Will post pictures in a bit

As for the car it's self I'm willing to spend money, I bought a 325i on purpose as a project on myside so yes the whole point is spending money, I've seen people pull heavy upgrades on 2L engines, surely something can be done to a 2.5L straight 6...right????

As promised here are the pictures

So I got myself a Parrot system, it's amazing... Sat navigation, (uses self updating tomtom maps) rear camera night vision, awesome sound quality, Internet capability with HD video clarity, it's simply amazing and works perfectly w it the my multifunctional steering wheel

Got myself a custom built box in the trunk with a kicker subwoofer- still have ample boot space , sounds great ( Done by Mobile Acoustics)

Go to the auctions and pick yourself up a preferably a side or rear end smashed 335i, transfer all the good stuff across to your chassis, sell all the unused stuff to recoup costs. This is by far the simplest/cheapest/most reliable way of doing a turbo conversion to your vehicle. No headaches, just swapping parts and will drive like a stock 335i, from there you can play around more.

Nobody is going tell you anything, you have ask and be willing to read (allot).

I rate go the supercharger root, if you want mod the 2.5l.

This is the N52 motor as far as I know, and these aren't happy with boost (magnesium crank case etc). Also as far as I've heard the valvetronic is also tricky.

That being said, if you do get it right, you will probably be using a low boost application, in which case it will make the same power as a 335i.

Soooo....

My 2c, rather buy a E92 335i.

If it was me , I would listen to the advice here and just go get a 335 coupe and chip that.

You could be driving it round tomorrow already instead of spending all the time and cash and only getting your car on the road in 6 months time. ANd then still endless drama and problems, and you wont be able to sell it for half of what you paid never mind the extra cash spend on the mods.

dont build what you can buy :) if you can build something different or better in some way then it becomes worth it

I don't think the e90 325i block would be able to handle boost or much boost anyway. Thats why the 335i has an older block if im not mistaken.

A supercharger may be the way to go.

But don't expect mind blowing performance.

If you looking at doing a proper job and taking the cost into consideration, you may as well sell the 325i and get a 335i. Spend R40k or so and you will have a monster.

Hi Gizmo

Honestly I think ur response makes more reasonable sense to me especially cos it does not require me to sell my car (lord forbid)

But I'm actually considering, that honestly and could work out cheaper and the best part is.... I DONT HAVE TO CHANGE MY CAR

So thanks boet, appreciated

e92 335i.
Get a better engine.
Get turbo
Better gearbox options
Better brakes
Better interior (Nav etc inc.)
Better resale
Better betters.
Tried, tested, proven platform, so yes you would be wasting your time unfortunately.
Will spend R100k plus modifying a car to be possibly as good as one you could buy for less.

Your car is a stunner:praise::praise: Im sure what you want to do has been done somewhere. You just need to research. Good luck:thumbs:

as many already said, don't build what you can buy, its not worth the money and tears and headaches you going to end up with.
Then there will be the matter of insuring it, trying to re-sell it later, etc
