Thanks for the advice guys... I'll take the vin number to bmw for the car's history.
I'm aware of the consumption and performance... I think is something I'll live with. I don't even want to think about 335i:roflol::smilebounce:

A 335i and 325i may differ less in fuel consumption than you’d think...:fencelook:

This is what makes me want a 335i more than a 325i, but all in good time.

I’m just freaked out by the maintenance bill that come with a 335i.

Yeah I had a chat with one of the forum members that has one and he gave me a very detailed breakdown of what I should expect to spend.

Thank you all for your comments guys. I went to see the car and it looked like it was in good condition to me. Only problem is that I can't get the car's FSH from BMW because they say they are not allowed to give me because I'm not the owner yet.

Can anyone on the forum help me with checking comments on the car?

Check with John from Leo Haas (pretty sure I'm spelling that wrong)

n52 motors are very very solid, and fabulous sounding at 5k rpm plus. As mentioned water pump/thermostat are when not if so budget for that. It won't win battles against turboed hatches, but that shouldn't put you off unless ultimate performance is your main priority.

I had an n54 135i coupe..
Met a guy at a dyno night in Pretoria at Fr&R he had e92 325.. dct.

Beautiful car, sounds great.. we got on topic of fuel consumption.. the guy was almost in tears.. I'd get 10l /100km easy and on highway 8l/100km..

He showed me his obc reading 12.5l / 100km.

And if you compare performance of the two its day and night...

325 is not a slow car but it's a bit of a slouch due to weight and gauteng altitude.. auto doesn't make it any better..

Good luck

If you worried about maintenance on a 335, get a warranty and a top up plan which covers mechanical faults. Especially all the big bills. But make sure what years they cover from as I'm not sure. Mine is a 2010 and have a warranty and a top up plan. major things I have changed so far is my water pump @ +/- 100k kms and a starter. I was in the same boat where I could've taken a mint 323 but the power and consumption played a big part in rather going for the 335. Hope that helps you a bit

+1 I would go for a low-med 335i, i bought mine with 42000km on the clock and thank god for motorplan as the clutches had to be replaced (m DCT) which was around 70k if im not mistaken.......Best if getting a 335i to get a warranty and top up plan.........

I would rather pay a bit more and get a 335i then buy a 325i and end up buying a 335i in the end....just my 2c:fencelook:

When we purchased the wifes's 125i, she wanted a 135i, I told her its either a 120d or 125i, we will not be sitting with two N54 cars that are heavy on maintenance and fuel. To this day I can still kick myself for buying the 125 instead of a 135. Get a decent motorplan and get a 335i rather. The enjoyment and ride a 335i gives over a 325i outweighs the cons.

That’s it. My mind’s made up :roflol:.

Hi Guys,

I'm going to test drive a 2013 e92 325i with 140k km's. Would really like to know how reliable are these cars with that mileage and above? what to look out for? should I be worried with the mileage?

Its a good naturally aspirated straight six with 160kw under the hood. My cousin had one and it was an awesome ride. That millage is nothing! The engine only start opening up at around 200000kms. The service intervals are like 30000kms, so don't stress.

Take the car for a ride. Check if all the panels line up straight. Look for any scratches or dents. Look for any differences with the spaces between panels. Look at the seats if they are looking good. Look at the floors. Looks at the boot. Check if the service manual and instruction books are all in order. Check the engine bay for any leaks, dents, welding or scrupled zones. check under the car for any leaks or anything missing.

If the car speaks to you and you fall in love...BUY IT!!!

Then again, before you do, run it by the MRS!!!

30000 km service intervals:withStu:

These engines will easily see many kms if serviced every 10k - 12k kms (provided other components such as the cooling system has been replaced)
