Cobb is a great plug & play tuning option. Easy to install & marry to your car even easier to unmarry. I used it with my jb4 for two years. Great product.

includes logging and all the fancy diagnostic tools.

its expensive & the standard maps included with the Cobb are decent.

a good investment if you look for total convenience and not necessarily the hardest hitting tune on the market.

The Cobb access port is a nifty little tool... The stock maps that you can load aren't very strong and typically you need a custom write to engage the full value of the investment...

If you stuck on Cobb go with a pro tune from PTF Tuning. They know what they doing. The process will also let you learn a bit about the car and the ins and outs of the Cobb.

Agree with GS.
Protuning will charge you for the tuning service but the learning process will stand you in goodstead.

depending on your goals the standard free maps are satisfactory for most that want something extra from their cars.

Read awesome things of Cobb + PTF tuning

Thanks bud.

I think it will suite my needs perfect being so far from cape town and jhb.
Ps. When are u going to sell me your exhaust:rollsmile:

Had a look at PTF, Guys look awesome.
Perhaps with no extra hardware, only exhaust when I decide on one.
The stock maps for little extra edge over lets say a stock 1m or a rs3 would be good enough.

Thanks for all the info guys.

For the "BB" software options, you would need a BT cable. But its for what the guys are calling open software. Its where you can download a free "map" for your vehicle off the net, and load it yourself. The guys also like it cause they get to tweek the software to suit their needs.

Not all tuners work with the BB software. Guys like PTF only work with cobb, due to the safety systems in place with it.

For ease of flashing, cobb is the way to go.
I'm running the JB4, and at the time i was also running the Burgertuning software which was loaded via cobb.

After the RB install i opted for the Wedge flash, which could only be loaded via BT cable. Hence why i no longer needed the cobb.

For loads more info, go check out Cobbs website as well as PTF's site.

But yes, its the Cobb V2, and yip its for the N54. It would be a straight plug and play for you.

If you go the PTF route maybe ask them to quote the Cobb unit as they buy bulk and you may save a few pennies.
