Went crazy on ebay yesterday before finding out that the E24 went from fine to coarse spline on the steering wheels in 85. So I have no idea which one I need.

Clownshoe, The change over was 09/1985 , my e28 is 1985 but pre 09 so its a course spline wheel. Also looking for an m tech wheel.

Since we only got the e28 in 85 here in SA, and im presuming our e24's never had the m tech wheels, so basically we need to find one from a very small batch of e28's from early 1985.

Coarse spline is also quite rare on e-bay, so when they do pop up they are $$$ :(

Check this link out, apparently changing the column is such a mission, and you will have the problem of having to possibly change keys. The only solution would be to do what this guy did

Look at : Fitting a 370mm M-Tec II Steering Wheel to a coarse spline shaft

OK so BIG decision time.

Silver or Black stripes. I have a line on replica OEM stripes. Now considering I have a 3 colour bling paint job I could get away with silver... but then again maybe not.

P.S. If any other 6 owners want a set they are $110, I will have them sent to a friends place in the US and I will have them in SA by Dec 20th.

TBH mate, I've just taken the stripes off of mine...

I really don't think the stripes are a fait accompli.

Especially as you have an interesting colour, I wouldn't stripe it, saying that though, opinions are like assholes

It is an 80s car... 80s cars have stripes.

On the subject of stripes, removing the bump strip between the front and rear wheel wells (and getting the holes plugged) updates the look.

In my opinion I would leave the bump stripe. I feel that with it missing it my look like the car was in an accident and those were too hard to come by so they were left off.
As for the stripes bellow the windows. I would maybe consider the single stripe along the shadow line, I saw one like this last week in a showroom in Johannesburg and it looked really good. I personally still have everything as it was when the car came off the line, and I LOVE it.

New radiator hose fitted and radiator flush and new coolant and running like a dream:)

I feel a photo shoot coming on... with all my babies in their glory.

Keeping a car clean in Cape Town is impossible!! Between rain and wind.

Just fitted the badge I got from the states at 1/3 of the local price. So after a lot of digging around and just before I had 635_wes and skank out with a ruler measuring their badge positions I realised that the correct placing gets in the way of the spoiler. I am still wondering whether to put one on or not. So I moved the badge slightly to the left to make way for a spoiler.

Getting ready, Galaxy has revolutionised research... I now do it "on the job"in the garage!!

IMG_7207.jpg
All set with the diagonal marking where the spoiler sits.

Finished

Man, she now feels much more complete!!

And the new toolbox is installed.

Looking good mate!!

I've got the crappy black backed badge, removing it until I get one like yours.

What was the result of your starting problem last year? Mine is randomly refusing to start after sitting for a week.

Technically it should have the black backed badge, but I like the chrome one. I even had a guy refuse to see me the chrome one he had because I told him it was going on an 84 model!!

Random no start turned out to be the computer box... the whole repair is shrouded in mystery though... but she goes like a dream now. A bit lumpy at idle though.
