I've been looking at getting a 135i Coupe for a couple of months now.

These cars demand a premium if a clean one is found with DCT. I found one - at a decent price - test drove it - and fell In-Love immediately.

Price looked good. Dealer wanted my car at a good price - so the deal looked set. :rollsmile:

So before financing was arranged I just had the car checked out at the local BMW Dealer and........ it had a R140k "oopsie" a couple of months ago.... (Previous owner went over a circle in a very haste-full manner)

BMW Maintenance plan is still going but eish.... I don't know if I want a car that can do double the national speed-limit on the highways with a klap like that. :thumbdo:

I wouldnt be worried about the workmanship on the repair, i would be worried about resale in the future. Dealer selling a car with R140k comments at a premium is taking a chance.

keep looking bud, the 135i have come down in price since the launch of the 235i and M135i, I am sure you will find a decent accident free one. Generally cars with that amount of damage don't always run 100% true to original form.

My thoughts exactly. If BMW is happy to continue the MP then the workmanship will be great - but when it comes to trading such a car back in... that's when the penny will drop.

It isn't a BMW Dealer selling - I think they didn't want to touch the car - they know of it immediately when the VIN was entered.

Yeah dude, good call and good luck with the search! Im sure in the end you will find the perfect 135 and it will be worth all the effort!

Its the stuff besides the 140K you need to be worried about. The bracket that was pushed to 99% of its breaking point and the other 1% takes another 20,000km of vibration to come apart.

Actually, R140k repair costs on a 135i is not a lot of damage. BMW parts are insanely expensive as we all know. Ask any panelshop to price a relatively minor fender-bender where no structural damage was done, and be prepared to be shocked at the repair costs.

Also, the fact that MP was re-instated should give you peace of mind.

You would be surprised to know that most cars that passes through dealer's hands have been inside a panel shop at one time or another. Most would have had the front repainted to repair stone chips and other small dent removed.

I would still demand some discount from the seller for this particular example, though.

The dealer read out a couple of things... most things leaking... to be honest I was in such a shock that I didn't take too much notice. Was so peeved at the salesman who said "the car is in great condition with nothing to add" :cartel:

Mostly engine damage. The BMW Dealer knew of it - small world in the City I stay in. They actually said the car was almost considered to be a write-off.

I've found two more 135i's.... but both don't have PDC or Sun-roof... I just don't get it. People spec the cars with DCT and Xenons (Thank goodness for that) but then they leave all the other boxes un-ticked. :smashScreen:

I've got 5 dealerships looking for cars now. Hopefully soon something will come up.

The fact that you took it upon yourself to find his out is already a sign.
I wouldn't want to do business with anyone that wasn't straight up with me.
