I prefer my BMW to be as original as delivered by the factory....if it was a Datsun/Nissan...different story

now these look nice, maybe its Adi's colour that not blending leka, need better pics, i remember all my grandpas e30's had these extensions and they looked mooi at the time

I think it suits the car, also thought hell no when i read the thread heading but on this car it actually goes well.

That chrome was very popular and very expensive in the 70's/80's. it definitly is acceptable for the vintage of the car, and I honestly think it doesn't look bad. (and I do not do chrome so that says something lol)

But....

Your fenders will rust away under the chrome in under a year, I can gaurantee it. there is maybe some kind of galvanic reaction between that stuff and the car body, but it does monster damage.

That is very true! As Rick says, there is some sort of reaction - also not sure if it's a case of the inevitable water that gets under between the chrome and the bodywork. :thinking:

Wow, never even thought of that, can't think of a better reason to not have the chrome on the car.

Agree on the rust hence no drilling there trying to find a different way, possibly to be able to but on and off as required.

some sort of silicone should hold them on, keep out the water and come off with little evidence they were there.

This chrome was standard on the 3.0 CSL and those guys HATE rust. They stick it on with epoxy and do it with extreme precision to prevent rust. But its very hard to take it off then.
