I wonder if any of you guys have ever had this problem.Ive been to many Dealerships around the country but I guess I dont have the "exclusive' look of a BMW driver or owner.Even when I wanted to purchase a brand new e90 323i, my shorts and t-shirt approach, wasnt well recieved by the sales people.I eventually found a dealership in Umhali that didnt judge me by how I looked and gave me excellent service. Ive owned 7 BMW's thus far and will aways defend our brand against others but maybe people working at dealerships should realize that it is a priveledge to work there and not a wright

Its the norm around, Merc is even worse where the guys actually ask you "can you even afford this car", this was one reason why my uncle went from Merc to Audi and got an S5 but now his home in his 535i sportspack:rollsmile: ill admit one thing i have never had this issue at any Audi dealership

I was once asked by a sales guy "what ride did i come with"; before he was prepared to take me for a test drive in a 323...but this was some years back in Pretoria. It is sad that the judging continues...:nonono:

Not as if BMW sales guys earn enough themselves to buy . :) I normally ignore the salespeople anyway and go to them when I am good and ready.

I HATE HOVERING. AND NEVER ASK ME, "CAN I HELP YOU"

My normal response is,,,

YES YOU CAN, BY LEAVING ME ALONE.

:thumbdo: they have issues, Cresta BMW did not want me to test drive a Z4 M - so I walked out - but they tried to get me back later - they are assholes, will never do business with them again for sure.

Don't mean to pick on lyndhurst auto lol but I did have this experience there.Ok thing is I look alot younger than I actually am and when I enquired about a 335 a couple of years ago,it was quite apparent that the salesman wasn't taking me seriously. So half way through the conversation I thought f**k you,I got up and took my business somewhere else, and that's how I found my current ride. So I actually owe that ass a big thank you..

Anyway point is don't judge period!!

when in a situation like this i ask them politely if there is some sort of problem and make it obvious that i am judging them... makes them very uncomfortable

Hmmm interesting comments. I tend to ignore people like that. Go to one dealership now and see the same sales Guy always. So he knows me and gives me VIP treatment. Even delivers spares when I order them.

this happend to me a few months back when i was looking at buying an e90 LCI... we (me n my fiance') went to SMG durban, i was working that day so i was still in my overall pants. we were looking at all the cars, we spent about 15 minutes just having a look at the stock. not once did a salesman approach us, he actually looked at us for a few seconds and continued to the next customer who had just walked in (all suited up). so we found a car we were intersted in and went to the sales department. we stood there in that spot for 20 minutes (i kid you not). each sales person at a desk had a good look at us and continued to do whatever they were doing (i suspect they were playing solitair on their computers). not one asked if we needed help, just walked past. anyways i got fed up and shouted this service is pathetic and walked out. this was not the first time this happened at smg, the time before that a salesman reluctantly took down details of a car i was looking for and never ever called back. i checked online and saw there was enough stock of the same spec of vehicle i was looking for.

anyways.. after my ordeal with smg i decided to give supertech a chance. i went there after work (in my same outfit) i was greeted within 15 seconds at the door offered tea and a muffin, my trade in was evaluated while i was busy looking at the cars. the salesman was very proffessional and knew what he was doing. an all round excellent experience. so i walked away an e90 owner

however the after sales service :flyfun: dont even get me started.

I had a dealer mate that once had a situation.

a black gent looking like a bit of a hobo entered his dealership and was sporting a scruffy looking bag with him.

He was picking on one specific vehicle whith the other salesmen ignoring him.

After about 20 minutes or so the owner went to go and help him.

Asked a couple of questions, asked about the price.....

And then.....

Took out the entire purchase price..... in cash... out of the scruffy bag......

And it was not a 13k toyota either....

Strange thing is me and my brother (we are young guys) often go to BMW dealers to check out the new cars, and always the sales guys are really nice, just the normal "Can I help you" and "Shout if there is anything I can help with" that kind of thing, though one time we where looking at a car in such detail, that one of the sales guys came to us asking "Do you drive these cars or work on them" our reply was: "Both"

At the merc dealer it was completely different, we are in the dealership looking around at cars when here comes one of the sales guys with a key, and he proceeds to roll up all the windows and then locks the car and walks away, said nothing, not very nice :nonono:

I've been to several dealerships of different brands where I've been ignored. I also look quite young(ish), so I think that's part of the issue ...

The worst I've experienced was this morning at Mini in Midrand. The f*Cking sales lady spent 5 minutes b!tching to her collegue while I stood in front of her. Apparently she has an issue working on Saturdays ... dumb b!tch should be grateful she has a job.

At least the guys in the BMW showroom made up for it, by offering assistance when I just walked in.
