Chip Logic E46 M3 runs a 12.3 Naturally Aspirated

Well done to the Chip Logic boys in Natal for getting Mahens E46 M3 to a 12.3sec run on the quarter mile. The time has been backed up with two 12.4 second runs. This is the fastest E46 M3 recorded to date matching the previous world record of 12.3 from a US car. We waiting for final results to be posted to see on the split seconds which car is faster.
I must say these 6's are very impressive when worked.:thumbsup:

.. we were expecting some up country competition today. Would have been nice to see some v8s go up against this monster 6A record breaker as we were promised some action from some of our buddies..but let's hope we see some GP M3s soon .

Sorry I couldn't be there, I got back from the USA on Saturday. Had a good session with AA, GIAC, etc. Also went to Turner & Evosport. It's logistically hard to come down when you have other business to do. I hope you got to see your own V8's run against the monster 6A.

Either way well done. As an M3 fan, & having owned a few E46's, it's always good to see the 6 cyl run the times. Lee Rutter used to be the god of M3 6A, & now good old ZA is up to that level.

Hey no problem bud. Thanks, Mahen and I are good buddies. He owns the car that did the time. Cleo did some tricks to it to get the time. I'm not sure on the full mods though. Hopefully Cleo will tell us soon lol. I am also keen to get some ideas for my 4pipe from him. Take care!

As George said earlier and Loco in his post the car had 50kg's worth of weight savings. That would maybe affect the ET by .1sec at most.
Comparing the time to the yanks time is rather unfair as he ran the car in 2005 at Atco Raceway which has incredible traction and we ran the car at a airstrip in Natal. The time is a little bit off from what the car can do but once the drivers get a hang of the power we should see lower 12's if not a 11 something.

I know what meth is my friends escort used it to run 12.5.This drum had race fuel written on it and i saw them open the drum in the pits.But you never know.12.3 time for a m3 e46 which was driven to mtubatuba and then driven back to durban,i only have two words CHIP LOGIC

Hi people, why must there always be a big fuss on forums, why dont people just call and enquire about mods, rather than make a big story for nothing...:drama:

Well, let me give you guys some history about Mahen's car...this car had software, dekat, and filter, and it used to run consistent 12.8s at every event, best time done was 12.7 (Full Std Interior)
Since the last event in November, we fitted a set of cams and the car now runs full meths, and it has race seats and lighter door panels.
The 1st run out saw the car doing a 12.3 @ 184kmh, when i had finished the run, the officials and Kas Moodley had askd me to return to the start line and run again to back the time up, i had explained to them that the car was Hot but they insisted that i run again, i then went back to the start line and ran a 12.4 without cooling...We are Happy with the car because there was a terrible Head wind and No Trackbite on Mtuba makes Traction a Problem, we still did a good time with wheelspin 1st and shift to 2nd, next event with some trackbite and hopefully no head wind, will see Mahen's car doing Much better times:thumbsup:

There was no red race fuel drum or racefuel, because the meths was in a white plastic container with no writing... BTW
