I do not believe in flushing, as more than one person has told me that flushing may actually be more harmful than good, and that you get most of the old rubbish out without flushing compared to flushing.

From the research I’ve done high mileage gearboxes should not be flushed. However lower km box’s should be. As for getting more dirt out without flushing is not true, when the gearbox is flushed new fluid is constantly pumped through the box until the fluid coming out on the other end is clean. Note that auto boxes have an oil cooler which contains a significant amount of oil in the lines and the cooler itself which will contaminate your new oil again. Therefore flushing removes more crap from the system

I told chef about ZF ages ago :blab: get the kit from Gdrive and get Zf to do the labor

They will do the work if I supply the parts?

Give me an idea of what is required, then I will ask my new technician, who is doing clutch changes and stuff, and I will ask him if it is within is scope of knowledge and ability.

my labourers viewed the video and have three options for you
1) You supply spares and oil, we drain and replace oil only without removing the sump etc (no gaskets required or filter required) @R250 labour only
2) You supply spares and oil, we do what is in the video, ie new gaskets, new filters etc @R800 labour only
3) We source the spares and oil for you, then the total cost is unknown, as we don't know yet what these spares availability and cost is.

Have your mechanics done this before Ralf? On any auto box?

oil change yes, removing the pan and filters....not with me yet
my newest staff member is a "star" in that he is bringing in and doing "Non-Core" business, like clutch kit repacement etc...did 3 clutches last month alone....would need to ask him.

I fear I may need to contact this ZF place, as I'm struggling to source the parts. G-Drive do not stock the items required. I can only get from the dealers.

I had a feeling this might be the case, and as such all my offered service was for "you" providing the parts, we do the labour/lift etc.

Because of the increased difficulty to source spares for "uncommon" items, we tend to not openly volunteer to do these jobs

I see a listing on G-Drive for the gearbox filter, but the picture also shows what looks like a gasket, so I may be in luck. The oil I will get from a dealer to make sure I get the correct stuff. G-Drive parts are Meyle brand.

I think Flash-Gordon already got a quote from BMW for all the parts... Will find out.

Go check on the Liqui-Moly web site and get the ATF from Moranor, or I can get for you. :fencelook:

What do you chaps think of a car (mine, to be specific) which has black leather and anthracite roof lining, with piano black trim instead of the current wood trim?

I did too. Still do. Love wood in a car, but I want to change it and the cheapest option I think is piano black or carbon as they are common. But I don't like carbon...

Otherwise a dark wood like you get in a 7.

Or... A brushed aluminium effect but wine red in colour...
