More power = More boost = More stresses on parts of the motor which currently are unlikely to fail but will with a remap at your mileage, gearbox included. I reckon and I am glad to be corrected that its not so much your turbo but rather motor components like bearings etc which will fail due to less tolerance.

Go for an economy map, safer and improves vehicle drivability, I would recommend you chat to sherwin or Shaun @ Xcede.

Arbee no disrespect dude. Monster was a compliment. Just dont want that much power on my car...

Tell me more about this economy map?

If its economy you looking for I would advise a carbon clean on your intake tract to make sure things are like they came with from the factory. In the process the swirl flaps can be inspected as well.

I personally would not take the chance.

Go for de-DPF, maybe larger diameter pipes on the exhaust with a single box and if you insist you can go for an economy map.

Wrong mileage to be extracting performance out of the vehicle, even 160 000km was a bit chancey.

Hi, just my opinion, I've owned 4 E39's, have down a lot of research and have first hand experienced with a number of issues.

Have to agree with Mike, at that milage it's not advisable to put any additional strain on the car, the engine will handle it, but parts like the Transmission, Turbo, etc are not gonna handle the extra strain.

Have you owned the car from New ? Do you have the full maintenance record ?

Not from new, no. Got it last week. Has had two owners. Full service history, partially with the dealers... Going for a full maintenance check this Friday

Don't mean to be a buzzkill, but before you bought the car, you should have had a mileage verification test done at any bmw dealership, they plug your key into their key-dock, it takes 5minutes.

Was it a private sale ?

Nope, bought it from a dealer in Fourways. I'll do the verification test someday soon then. Overall, the car is in excellent condition and runs like a dream. Engine purrs very nicely.
