I tend to stick to the busiest garage rather than the cheapest garage :fencelook:

Any reason?

My logic tells me that the busier the garage, the more often they have to refill their tanks, the cleaner the fuel will be. Also, probably less chance of having paraffin added to the diesel seeing as they aren't doing bad for business.

I like to use the R21 Engen 1Stops. I get a lot more out of a tank of their diesel than any other garage.

I don't mind paying the extra R50 per tank for the more expensive garage if I have better peace of mind that my fuel system is running clean.

Average consumption on my 320d is 5.2L/100km , most of the times i fill at GTL. No issues with their Diesel. Shell and BP garage does not give me better consumption.

Yeah no my car isn't a fan of Shell, BP or Sasol. Sasol being the worst.

I tend to get good mileage from Total, come to think of it. Otherwise I generally stick to Engen.

Sorry for the ignorance boys, but whats this ppm being mentioned in the posts please?

Its the measure of the sulphur content in the diesel, the lower the number...the "better" the quality. Ppm - Parts per million.

Not sure actually but yes its relatively new think it came in with the move to unleaded petrol. Its to do with cleaner burning fuels, back in the day it was predominantly trucks and agricultural vehicles using diesel doubt there was legislation on the quality.

Diesel quality in Oz not stated?

Never owned a diesel here so have really no idea. Do the various petrol stations also compete with cheaper unleaded as well or is it still one price from station to station? Here the price change every few days or so.
