Change of Motorplan

Hi,

I would like to know the process of changing of ownership on a motorplan. I recently purchased a BMW from a dealership in Randburg, They advised me that as part of the deal the motorplan would be transferred in my name. Its been 2 days now since the car has been registered in my name and the motorplan is still yet to be transferred. Now I hear there is a cost implication to the transfer. Just hope the dealer and the BMW dealership in William Nicol get there act together soon.

Also, does anyone know the procedure the vehicle undergoes when at BMW regarding the pre-sales checks?

The transfer fee of R2500 i think has been in place for a long time.

If you baught the car at a respectable dealer in randburg, they should fit the bill for the motorplan transfer.

As for the procedure, in theory, its a very lenghly one, they do quite a bit of checking on the car, hence the expensive price, I dont know what they do exactly, but it should be a full inspection... in theory.

When I bought my car end last year, it cost R1100. The dealer I bought from paid for it.
Don't know if they get a better price though.

IIRC it took about 3 hrs for the inspection.

Thanks,

The reputable dealer in Randburg has offered to fit the bill for the transfer. Just the wait for it to be done is proving the challenging part. I need to book the car in for a few things which need to be done (e.g. Possible Clutch and Thrust Bearing replacement, Hooter not functioning etc.)

Plan on having these fixed before Easter break, hence the time factor as well. Surely when the intensive check is done things like the hooter not functioning is also noted.:dunno::dunno:
