The module with the white plug going in shouldn't concern the central locking what does though is the module just below it with the green/yellow and black plugs going into as that is your ZKE module also known as a GM5 module however the most likely suspect for central locking woes is the loom that goes into the bootlid...You need to pull the sheath back and check for any broken wires there as this is a very common problem. Then we can move forward from there  I am not saying there is not an issue with the ZKE but it is best to start with the common things first

Hennie, welcome.
If you really struggle to get the problem identified,
try calling up your nearest bmw approved workshop or dealership.
Maybe they will be willing to help you identify the problem free of charge. :thumb:
I know for a fact Leo Haese here in gauteng, Pretoria is always willing to help.
Good luck mate.

If i repays the GM5 module with a GM4 module will that work
Hi Hennie ,

I have a similiar problem with my 320d 2003 , on a hot day ( not everytime though) something happens And then the remote wont work to unlock or lock the doors. I can hear the clicking sound but nothing happens . Only to find out that there is 2 relays in the Gm5 module that controls these functions , and on a very hot \ cold day they are not working properly. I will be taking mine out this weekend and changing the relays to see if it solves the problem , but as far as my research goes this will solve the prob.

The dealers do not sell these relays lose , and a new Gm5 is about R5800 . So if it works it will be much cheaper to repair the unit. As soon as I know I will let you know what happened.

Hi guys.

I was just curious to know where you found the relays for your GM5 units.
I have a 2005 330ci convertible and the relays have quite an unusual pin setup.
I am based in DBN and went to A1 radio who is the best as far as I know and they say they have never seen a relay like mine.

Any suggestions?

i had my relays replaced by Combined electronics, those are specific relays you need, you can buy them off ebay as well. Google bmw gm5, should come up with a site of guy that sells them, here explains what the various symptoms are as well

Decided that im gonna try find a friend with a 330ci and try swopping the rear view mirror first as the FZV Amp is in there and may be faulty.

gonna replace relays as a last resort.

thanks for the in-put so far
