CD Shuttle not working

Hey guys,

I just bought a 2001 528i.

I popped some CD's into the shuttle (original CD's - not mp3's) and it told me there's no discs.

Can I replace the shuttle with any other shuttle or must it be a BMW shuttle?

For bvious reasons I don't want to / can't replace the radio with a normal front-loader. It will just look k**k if I do.

What alternative is there that I could look at?

I made that mistake. Turn the cd's over.

Well, I did have a look at the diagram on the shuttle holder and inserted the CD's as shown.
According to what I could see, it shows that the CD's must have the label side facing up...
But no, I haven't tried it the other way...

It would've been nice to have an mp3 player thought...

The BMW shuttle can be problematic. THe last car I had, had one that was OEM. It would play CD's (MP3 discs) perfectly on one day, and would skip to the next disc(for no reason) on another day.

Consider using one of those cleaner things,if the laser diode(thing) is covered by dust it can give you the problem that you are having.

Make sure the discs that you are using have not been abused by a cat (scratches).:hammerhead:

Let us know once you have tried these things if you are still having no luck.

The 6CD changer is a joy when its working though, so hang in there.

On this Topic, do you guys know where i can buy the cd shuttle casing that comes on the E46? Perhaps you guys know someone that has one but no longer in use...wud really appreciate it. Price also pleees....Thanks in advance

Looking to spend about R200.....im just impatient cos the chap who i bought my car from did order the cd case from BM but dont know when he's going to get it....i personally hate waiting for something hence the request.....

We ARE talking about the casette? The little black box that the CD's slot into right? If you can confirm that the same one from an E90 will fit into the E46 shuttle, I can get it for you by Monday, maybe for cheaper than R200?

Yes, we are talking about the casette "little black box". Not too sure if the E90 has the exact same as the E46 shuttle.
