CD changer does not eject

My e46 323i cd changer in the boot does not want to eject the cartridge. Is this common or is it just time to replace? If replacing the head unit, where do i get the adapter plate to fit a common size player?

Unfortunately it's Autstyle, but it should work:

My E36 CD changer is just dead! So I decided to remove it over the weekend and what do you know... Now the head unit has decided to go and die on me as well, so they must be linked somehow :cursin:

I haven't seen one of those bezels in real life, so I can't vouch for the quality. Also I'm not too sure on how much your aftermarket unit would depend on the structural integrity of that new bezel.

I think i need to see if i can repair or replace the changer 1st. Keeping it standard might be the best. Will shop arround to see if i can get a head unit with cd player as the 323i is a 2000 with tape deck. Some guy's chuck the original stuff out and replace it with DVD's and such. Maybe i have some luck with this!

Barkie, I had the same issue a while back. Remove the changer, open it and then connect the wires while it is still open. Use a plastic (or other non-conductive material) "prong" and fiddle with the various sliding mechanical bits. Re-grease the sliding metal parts (everywhere where you can spot signs of movement) with white lithium grease. Test unit for smooth operation and re-assemble if found OK. Problem sorted!
