"Ultimately, the 3rd-gen X5’s impressive breadth of ability helped it fight its way to the summit of the premium SUV class. Opt for the right powertrain and you’ll enjoy a compelling mix of under-bonnet brawn and potential for fuel frugality, while also benefitting from lofty levels of comfort and practicality.

In short, the F15 BMW X5 is as well-rounded as they come."

Interesting share, especially since I've set my sights on a F15 as an upgrade from the F25 in the near future. It was between the F15 and RRS, the BMW fan in me is swaying me toward the BMW.

Really keen on the M50d, the idea of a tri-turbo diesel is both equally exciting and scary.. There is not much research out there on cars out of plan and even less on the forum. Will likely start a thread for owners to chime in on experiences and thoughts.

Had a chat with Ross last week when the E46 was in and he advised I go for a 30d (or 40d, if I must have a bit more power). He mentioned that the M50d's can have issues with both the turbos and injectors in his experience, which as expected, are expensive excercises.

That's awesome choices bud.

RRS looks and feature wise would be nice just not sure on reliability or maintenance on those.

My BMW tech also advises on sticking with a X5 30d due to issues they have had as well with the 50d's.

I think a 30d with a remap will be more than sufficient power.

Thanks!
I wonder if it is the number of turbos that increase the probability of failure by heat soak?
