The R10k would be for an entire replacement lock set (doors, boot and ignition) with new keys, unlike the duplication of an existing key as in your case, Laigo.

I knew that :) that's why I want a duplicate made sooner rather than later :mmm:

If you can have the key cut, I may be able to help you with the coding.

thats wierd

I had my key go faulty on my e46 320i and I went to the dealer and they ordered me another one I waited a week thank goodness I had the spare still.

After the week I drove in while I waited the key was coded and I had a new key

Thye didn't even use my spare they just went on the computer disabled my old key code and put the new one in.

All they needed was the VIN of the car

The thing that bugs me now is that they have done away with the wallet key on the FL e90
Thats a big loss I used to carry that thing in my wallet all the time just incase I lost my key

Cant you split the E90 key in two and put the actual metal key in you wallet and keep the plastic key part for daily use?

Hi pretty useless, with locks, keys and s:censored:t, but is it possible to have one key for the car, which u use to start it with and a different one for the door lock?

Can you not have your key copied at a lock-smith to make a wallet version? Not sure with the new BMWs but will the car start with just an iron copy of the key? Someone mentioned that the key will just spin in the ignition unless there is a chip present?

Wont work, you need the actual chip to get the car going!

Finally got it done...and for under R4k...got a new, original key (with the metal key) and without any spare....just had to remove the CAS box
