after reading this thread somebody mentioned idle control valve.my car was running shite aswell.i removed my airbox, maf unit and sprayed carb cleaner into the airtake along with the pipe leading to the idle control valve.car battled to start and was missing after this.after revving it a bit and driving the crap out of her she is now performing much better.

and yes coil pack prices vary.last price i got for e46 320 was almost R1000 a coil

My e30 325i used to idle like a drunk sailor trying to get smoothly down an alley full of hookers. almost certainly the a sticky idle bypass valve and tried everything short of switching it out.

Then came a fateful sunday morning after no sleep and just having stopped by the sheeben for 10 Milk Stout quarts. The car found itself up to the wheel arches in Welkom Vlei after an aborted fishing attempt. Long story short it idled like a kitten afterward. Turns out all it needed was abit water to wash it out.

Cam position sensor can also be a possibilty... Didnt your warning light for low coolant came on? Did the car overheat? If so you might have blown the top gasket... that would also explain it. Best of luck!

ok guys! car is at BMW..... they found the problem(i think) they said that the one of the Intake Solinoids the advances the cam is stuck!:dunno: there is to much air going into the motor on low revs and normal driving but when you give the car stick the second cam kicks in and all is fine! so it feels like a BMW Vtec!!! haha:banghead:

Anyone know where i can get a solinoid from?!?!?! its like R5000 from BMW, so they trying to make a plan and fix it!

@ BMW M - No a warning light did not come on infact! but i kept a close eye on the temp gauge and all was fine!!!
