Car bought today - papers not here yet - advice please

I bought a car today or rather I paid the deposit for it today.

The current owner only applied for the papers today from the bank, if I phone her bank and they confirm that the car is paid off and that the papers have been applied for, is there any problem with me paying her the rest of the money and getting her to sign an invoice.

The invoice would state that the papers will be supplied to me once she has received them. We could also sign a transfer of ownership document that she can hand in.

The registration papers will only arrive next week or the one after and Im impatient.

If I have a signed invoice there is nothing she could legally do right?

Dude,

Car could be stolen, Code 3, she could disappear, she could not be the rightful owner, no paper, no play... finished...

Banks offer a letter of settlement stating that papers have been issued, at the very least, you need to get that, get a copy of her ID, and copy of the previous license disc papers to make sure the car is in her name, pref go and fetch the stuff from her house,

Also, you can ask ask her proof of insurance, and that the car is insured under her name, and for how long, thats a very good indication.

NOW... details of the car

No papers, no car.

Go with her to the finance company's offices, if it's paid off they will provide the papers immediately.

Well I was thinking of having her phone the bank while Im there and then let me ask them if its paid up and if the papers have been dispatched.

Would banks finance a code 3, I also got the the VIN number and phoned BMW to check the history, everything was in order, no major body repairs, only servicing and part replacements, and the car was last service with them this month.

I have her ID number, I know where she works ( we met there and her name is google'able) , I have her home phone number as well as her mobile number. Im pretty certain she is legit.

How would the previous license disk help?

Im just itching to get the car and thinking that she has two weeks to stuff it up is driving me mad.

Well,

They tell you 7 to 10 working days if they cant find the papers, and need to get duplicates from the license office, let me guess... Wesbank ?

They pulled the same crap on me 3 weeks ago with a company car i sold, sent them a letter stating i sold the car to a dealer in good faith, and if the dealer holds me liable for a loss of sale, I will hold them liable, guess what, papers found same day...

And dude, it does not have to be a 760iL, tis a new car for you, and your excited, so as good forum members, we get excited with you... unless its a Focus ST of course :)

Its all for the love of cars

Unless you know somebody, no. They will not/is not supposed to give out info if your not the registered owner.

Old registration/license disk papers will show owners name, vin number, and i think owners ID No...

but if its not your sister, I would wait for the papers...

Hopefully the strike is finished by the time you get the papers, not like me, bought a car last week and cannot get it registered on my name due to the strike, so I cannot take delivery.
