My service indicator just indicated that i need an oil service, can that be done?

Absolutely!!

That is what we need to discuss and if you bring your own service kit with oil incl.? Or do we have someone attending who can get a special deal? Should we try and find out what the fitment centre would charge us for a service kit? We then need to know what vehicle for etc....

Voting is the first part, so we can set a date and venue.

Then we take it from there.

Could you guys mention what issues you are having, or what you would like to solve at the meet.

1) Oil changes and service light resetting can be done. (Bring your own oil filter etc) Old oil will be disposed of properly via the rose foundation for recycling, we need containers for old oil if you want an oil change.

2) Diagnostics and printouts can be done

3) I'm good with electrical issues.

4) Advice and teaching you about your car is totally free Q&A part of the parcel

There are however some limitations, one cannot just set up a workshop in a parking lot, there's legislation surrounding this, so somebody with a large house with a wall, garages and a big braai is probably a better bet.

If you want your car worked on by other members of the forum, there will be disclaimer forms, as this is only fair, I've been in business too long.

This is intended mainly for troubleshooting or small issues, things like removing gearboxes can become awkward, we can only provide advice here or links to personal help at a later stage should you need.

regardless of how limited it has to be it will still be very INTERESTING for most.... BMW's just are when you start learning about them.

The primary idea here is to save money not spend it

Don't worry. The gearboy change was just a little joke. I do however want to do the centre console swop. My vote goes for a saturday. The 18th for me is a good date. Or the 2nd.

I agree 100%

Lets just for the reason of argument sake start thinking of an alternative venue to the Fitment Centre.

I have a reasonable parking area under my flat. probably enough for 12 cars easily. It is private and away from the road. Problem is that I dont have any tools anymore and everyone should bring a lead-lamp too.

I also have a portable braai.

So there is my input... bring it on please... next idea??

I have to see four clients tomorrow.
Parow, Ravensmead, Rondebosch, Brackenfell.. and then I will go and see the Fitment Centre guy, even if it is late tomorrow. (should have BMWFanatics stickers!!!)

will post our outcome and feedback as soon as done!

I have a meeting with the Fitment Centre Guy Tomorrow.

Just a question: I was told that the weekend of the 25th is a long-weekend??

That would be awesome, but all I would be able to supply this would be tools and the willingness to learn from the masters.

Get us a fuel sponsor and we will do it!

I don't mind a few temporary decals on my ride, for a good cause...

It could look like CannonBall Run as in the States....

Or maybe it could look like "Die Groot Trek"!

UPDATE!!

Had a meeting with the owner of the Fitment Centre today.

He is very keen to have a Meet&Fix yes, but he asks that we pleas give him a chance to get his shop in proper order.

Everything is unorganised in his stock storage... specifically tyres and exhaust systems.

He needs to sort this out and would not like to have us in a "deurmekaar" facility.
He asks for us to give him a chance to get on his feet first please.

He currently also has massive space for us next to his storage inside the building... It will stay like that till the landlord secures a occupant.

I also wanted it sooner, but he asks that we please bear with him as he wants everything sorted when we rock up.

He would like to give us special treatment and would prefer that we not stand in a qeue to use a lift for example, because it is the end of month and "the locals" are in full force...

We can discuss having it on a Sunday and he does not have a problem per say, but we have to remember that any of his staff involved, would be on double time then.

So yes, it will be possible and we as members have a lot to work out, but most important is that we will have to wait till the Fitment Centre is finished settling in....

I'm available on the 25/26th and 2/3rd

We are thinking of the first one just being a technical get together with a presentation on the history of the various BMW models and technical features of interest, and then a small fix session and code reading and then a Braai.

Which of the above dates is good for everybody? The 24th is a public holiday.

I will be there. Would like to do a oil, spark plug change, and get a diagnostic, seeing that my central locking is a little "deurmekaar" and my passanger tail light isn't working properly, will get a temp censor to fit as well. Most of this I will do myself, just need the right tools, and a extra hand here and there. The diagnostic will be a great plus!
