I need to replace my final stage resistor on my E46, not a big deal, its a common problem. I called Donford Motorrad in Stellenbosch for a price to supply the part as they are around the corner from my work. They quoted R1436.50 and will have to order from Cape Town as they dont have stock. I thought this was slightly pricey and I usually get 2-3 quotes anyway. Second call was to Helderview BMW in Somerset West, quote was for R812.93 and they have 3 in stock. I know Stellenbosch floor space comes at a premium, but a R600 diffierent on a R800 part :yuck:

sometimes the OE part from the dealer works out cheaper than the generic part from somewhere else, assuming the 1436 dealer was generic... but with BM all parts across dealerships are relatively the same....

... or they are suppose to be. I bought mud flaps for my E30 from BMW for R240 and that was for all 4. It came out the other day that a lot of the E30 guys were paying up to R600 in the Northern Cape from BMW.

Funny. i phoned Tygervalley Forsdicks for the exact same reason today. Same price. If Helderberg is cheaper ill rather make the trip.

A few years back when I had to replace mine on E46 the agents were about R1400, bought a generic one brand new from Bruce's BMW for R600, looks a little different but fits 100% and works 100%. Still have the box it came in, on there 'Agape parts' and a 011 tel nr. Didn't the guy at Helderview perhaps quoting on the wrong thing?
