Can a E46 M3 be financed

Hi Guys

Tell me can a E46 M3 still be financed?

I think Wesbank regards them as collectors cars so they will look at the deal?

I see the average price for a E46 is ranging from R160 - 350k with a lot of rubbish in between...

I mean I have seen 2 that have been completely resprayed (badly) and questionable ODO readings yet they ask R200k?

I offered a dealer R120k as I calculated R100k to get it perfect - total respray, car left half its ponies on the side of the road and rubbers, seals and a service with brakes and bearing redo... from a glance... who knows what else needs to be looked at when you get started...

Too many dodgy dealers out there trying to pull the wool over your eyes...

Am I 7 years too late for a E46 M3? Should I be looking at a E90 M3 instead?

I have owned many cars - the E46 SMG M3 was by far the best car I have owned.... I really regret selling it...

I sold it for R209k with 99k on the clock - never did a service out of motorplan and it was properly abused... whoever bought my M3 got a perfect car...

And I struggled to get that price!

Now R200k buys you a car that is nowhere near what you had before....

To get what I had it seems you have to pay R300k...

Most Banks frown upon an asset older than10 years. If they do finance then it comes with many conditions like big deposit and smaller term and higher interest rates to reduce the risk.

You can try AA Auto Bay as well.

sometimes what will be done is

the bank will finance the book/trade value of the car, they will ask you to put in 10% against that value

the difference will need to be sorted out by you

so for example if the car is R200 000 and the book is R80 000

then

Finance will be R80 000 less R8 000 Deposit

you will have to put in a deposit of R128 000 effectively

then they will also shorten the Term as well... instead of 54 or 48 months, they will bring it down to about 36 months

I believe Wesbank will go up to 20 years on a private sale. AA Auto Bay no longer exists.

I'm pretty sure it's possible, but I really wouldn't advise it. If you buy an m3, you should have minimum R50k spare lying around after purchase to maintain it from the get go.

I financed my 2004 e46 325ci last year January with MFC (Nedbank) and the only terms they had for me was that I needed a deposit of 10% that was it.
I did take it over 3 years but that was by my own choice.
I bought through a registered Wesbank (FNB) dealership and they still said they don't finance anything over 5 years old, under their vehicle finance department but they would do private finance at a much high interest rate, i have been a FNB client all my life but have been disappointed with the finance side for both house and car related transactions.

Two sound contradictory but anyway.

If you want to finance a E46M3 it's a sure sign you really should not be buying one. Brakes alone will be more than your monthly installment, and lord knows what else will be lurking. To maintain a E46 that has high millage and does a fair amount per year properly will cost a significant portion of cash.
