Is it at all possible for me to install a dump valve and wastgate on my f20 so it can sound like a turbo car.

Thanks dude, I know it already has a turbo, I guess I did not explain clearly. I wanted to know if it can sound like the Subaru and ST's, the dumping sound.

I was asked a question, so I asked the guys in the forum, who I was expecting advice from not unnecessary comments like go buy a Subaru.

Next time don't comment on a post just to waste time.

Thanks Iceman, appreciate your comment

Aside from putting in a brand new exhaust (which will cost a load) I don't know how you will achieve such a sound.
118i is a zippy little car man, enjoy it.

Thanks Luke

I don't want to do that to my car.

I was told that with the type of engine in the F20 it was not possible to put in a dump valve and waste gate which I just assumed was nonsense, has the car is turbo charged, so I know that this forum has some well technically sound BMW drivers, so was just looking for some advice around that.

Forgive me for being a bit 'old'.

I prefer the sound of a spooling turbo versus a BOV.

Obviously the whistle as opposed to the whine of a bearing failing and a turbine eating the housing though - just for clarity.

Well to be honest buddy, you can make it sneeze. My cousin did that to his 320i F30, and the car sounded sedate yet cool.

He has the gadget (DumpValve) with tubing that he made up and probably will consider to sell cause it is not in use at all.

PM me if you want his number and you can get into contact with him, he can guide you on what he did and bought for his car?

Let me know

^ Not in use for a reason though.... Cos it sounded silly perhaps? Grew tired of it maybe... Doesn't suit the car in my opinion.

Not really, he bought a 135i Performance model and has a ton of mods and it has a different wow effect for him.

Second car is a 120d 2015 model and still under motorplan, not fiddling with it all at but it will get sw/dp & exhaust once out.

His toy is a 1990 model Toyota with 20v conversion...so he had it on the F30, sold the F30 and it is laying in the garage now doing nothing.
