I was against fitting VPS on my other cars, given that the effect of a few bonnet scratches/chips on the trade in value was a lot less than paying for a VPS full frontal wrap.

Now that I will be owning a car that will likely cost a lot more for dealer to "touch up" when trading in, I am thinking that VPS makes more sense now.

Any views on whether VPS, or another brand, is advisable?

The car is metallic silver and will be my daily driver.

At minimum, I guess a full frontal wrap will work.
I had the same thoughts for my two new cars but after receiving the quotations, I had a change of heart. The price was really not justifiable, it was more than respraying the whole bonnet and front bumper at a BMW ARC. Then I asked for quotation to cover only the lights and fogs, price was still ridiculously high. When I need to trade in or sell, I will just take the car to ARC and get the bonnet and bumper resprayed and if the lights are bad, will source used ones from the scrap yard or something. My 320d is five years old now and the headlights are still perfect, so I doubt I will need to replace headlights when I need to trade the X5 or the 330i in the future
