Anybody heard about this bullsh!t of the traffic cops taking away your license for having installed aftermarket angel eyes on your car??

I'm sure Coisman will be the best to give feedback.

How and why would this be illegal? If their argument is its too bright, then thats retarded because you get super bright LED angel eye bulbs for OEM lights... And the new audi lights are kak bright, and also all those damn hiluxes and fortuners with their HID kits.

I call bullshit on that one.. A cop has to tell me your lights are too bright and either wanna fine me or take me license.....

He can go play with his dog and his goldfish..

He will have to prove first that the lights were not factory fitted, if he cant then tell him he has no case and you are leaving.

DRL's (Daylight Running Lights) main purpose is to act as a safety measure and make a car more visible in the day. AFAIK Angel Eyes are DRL. So what they are saying is if you make your car safer we will take away your licence.

If the officer in question suspects that the parts were installed after market, and not factory fitted, then he is allowed to issue a DOU-notice (Discontinue Of Use)

This notice takes your car off the road, so the disc get removed, and you have 7 days to get your car to a government testing station for a roadworthy test to see if these after market mods are leagal.

When I imported the Lexus type lights for my Honda 11 years ago, I took my car to a testing station after installing them, to have them certified as passing the SABS 047 Roadworthy Test Sheet. When pulled over for having fitted after market rear lights, I could prove it had passed the test.

I think its trivial, and I wouldn't give a guy crap for this, bit then if these lights were obviously installed wrong, and blinding other traffic as it wasn't set properly, then maybe refer the guy to get it fixed.

I issued ALLOT of these forms...mostly to Taxis that I felt was not fit to be on the road... :sneaky:

I also issued ALLOT of them to guys in Voortrekker road in Pretoria, going there to race. This would be for anything from steering wheels thats too small, to dropped suspension, to those little lights where the window washer water sprays out.

I would mostly give warnings, but unfortunately these guys almost always had shit attitudes, so yea...the pen was mightier than the sword!! :pimp:
