Good Morning Fanatics!
The Cadillac CTS considered by some as the underdog in the rat race that is the luxury sedan market - For me this isn’t so.
I have always had quite a lot of love for the design, the strong curves and simple layout. The aggressive styling and big wheels.
I like things which stand out and to me this is what the Cadillac CTS is best at. It’s handsome yet subtle and more so than anything it is different.
My client, quite the detailer himself wanted us to refine the finish on the paintwork, protect and add a touch of Showroom Shine to his car.
The day started with the car looking like this, a bit grimey with a decent layer of dust on the paint as well as rather dull looking mag wheels.
How neat is the little GM Badge? I think it’s a great touch!
The mag wheels were given a thorough clean, along with the arches and the side of the car was soaked in a light coat of APC to help lift the dirt. I then continued to foam the Caddy down using Maxi Suds followed by a quick hand wash and rinse.
Unfortunately I was not able to get any decent pictures of the paintwork before polishing; however the car had very light swirling.
I decided to go for a medium pad, working in some Megs #85 using minimal pressure. This didn’t go as well as the paintwork was so soft that the abrasives in the #85 were causing swirls as opposed to removing them.
I then tackled the car with a finishing pad and some Ultimate Compound which did the trick very nicely.
The CTS was then re-washed and two coats of Wolfgang Paint Sealant were applied at low speed on another finishing pad. The mag wheels were given a coating of Rim Wax and the trim and engine bay was dressed.
Glass was cleaned with Autoglym Fast Glass and then it was time for a quick photoshoot outside before the rain arrived.
A very enjoyable detail, on a fantastic car! My client was so impressed he has booked in his Range Rover Sport for January 2012.
