Buying an F10 M5 - Local Pricing

Fine, maybe the title is a little mis-leading. Maybe it read that I'm buying the new M5. Sadly not.

What I did do though, for pricing - is go through the BMW Car Configurator and was pretty interested in pricing and features of the F10 M5.

I stand under correction, not sure how accurate pricing is - but I was actually fairly surprised.

Base model is R 1,155,076.00 - but I decided to add some optional extras. Some of them, a little excessively priced in my view.

Citrin Black Metallic Paint
R25 700.00
Full Leather Black Merino
R80 100.00
20" M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style
R28 900.00
Lane change warning
R6500.00
Surround View
R13 100.00

One really, really weird optional extra was an ambient seat-belt warning light. R450 :fencelook:

So, after all the fancy extras - R1 309 676.00 with R9576.00 CO2 Tax. IMHO, not bad at all for the kind of car you're getting!

The confugurator is wrong. The base model includes (as a package) your colour of leather and metalic paint.

The extras are the other stuff you mentioned of which the 20inch wheels is a must option...it looks so cool.

I have decided not to continue my purchase of the M5 untill i can test drive it and then make up my mind. I have a feeling my 335 may just be quicker...eish.

Too be fair... the 335i isn't what you'd call standard :mmm:

Must say though... looks evil in black

R1.3m?

As far as performance is concerned the GTR Nissan will wipe the floor with the new M5 in any respect, plus you can have an immaculate E39 M5 as well for the R200k difference in price between the Nissan and the beemer.

Having been in the Nissan and the M5 the Nissan is a supercar and the BM is just an incredibly fast sedan to me, it does everything well but its no supercar.

And I am a MONSTER BMW fan having owned many!

2 completely different cars. well they both have 4 wheels and a steering wheel

True.

Im just inclined to use the Nissan as a benchmark for performance. The Nissan is basically short 2 doors on the M5, its still a comfy cruiser as well and I am 6ft and have sat happily in the back of one.

I too would be hesitant to spend that much money on a car without test driving it ... even if it is an M5.

I agree with you guys...lets see if Donford (or another) will ask one of the fanatics to test drive it in March.

I agree with the comments above; having test driven the GTR and having been driven...it was a hard core supercar performance. I just dont think I could live with the hard suspension. The BMW may give one the best of both worlds...will have to test and see hey?

100% agreed there.

But drive a "facelift" new one, they have managed to give it even more grip and the stiff suspension is now a lot evident.

Its actually a noticable difference in ride comfort, and in the facelift GTR you dont need a degree in quantum physics to launch the car on launch control.

If you want performance and headturning ability buy a GTR, put a big bore exhaust, live everyday to hear it building into boost.:praise:

Okay, I will do another test drive.

Just a question on the GTR. Why is that the GTR's change ownership so quickly. It seems few guys hold onto them longer than a year...? I inquired about this from the head office and they explained it is due to the car being "facelifted" annually? Do you know more about this?

@twinz: I am sure your 335i won't get close the M5 if you mod it to the same level that you did on your 335i, though I would have to say one of the mods that have to be done is to paint those blue callipers another colour, I mean blue, really.....:nonono:

Sank I agree. Tuning the M5 will take it to a whole new level...but it may be two years before we will see reliable tuning parts become available...? Me cant wait.

The blue calipers look actually very good on the Monte Carlo blue M5...but it does not work on the silver/black or white M5.
