I have some feedback most people confirmed that the 2014 models and up were the ones that had the updated timing chain guides. The one I test drove was a 2013 and even though it looked like a clean car with a clean bill of health, I wasnt willing to take a risk. Especially because the car was off plan.

I decided to go with the 120d coupe, I really like the shape it reminds of the E30's. Everyone that spoke to me about the diesel mentioned that the car is extremely reliable with good consumption and reasonable maintenance costs. That suited my needs. Im really looking forward to it... . If anyone has a manual 120d I would like to hear what you think about the performance. The one I'm getting is a little laggy at low revs but as the revs go up it pulls nicely... Is that normal it still has abit of the motorplan left so I can ask them to have a look at it.

The 328i is coming at around 280k, would love a 335i but don’t really want to spend more than the 280k and I have to trade in the Merc

For this money I would look at an F30 320d or 330d (slightly more)
The 328i has nice smooth power delivery and quick. but those engines are problematic, the N47T and N57 have been proven to be reliable, and coupled with the 8 speed gearbox they perform well returning excellent economy.

Yeah the early N20's may be a bit scary to be in just because of the issues. Having that said; I test drove a 328i towards the end of last month and it was plenty quick; on the in-roads and when kicking down on the freeway :thumbs:
