BUYING A 2008 135I

So here the story:

My wife recently bought herself a 120i sportpack, The dealer we bought the car from calls me yesterday and tells me that they have an Apline White 2008 135i Sportpack with exnons and 71500km on the clock for sales @ R259 000.

So i send in papers for finance to the dealer and i get the car on Prime and they will settle my current car. So i go for a test drive today, fast car very very neat, i push the car hard on the way back to the dealer and the engine management light comes on and it goes into limp mode.

So i asked the dealer to get me the repair history on the car as i know that there are some realiability issues with some of the 135i's. He said the car is going in to BMW JSN on Manday for the service and he will get the fault checked out.

But should take this as a sign to just stay away........

If it were me, and my money, I would run... Far!

i'm thinking it's at the glen cause when i went to visit them 2 weekends ago they had a 135i that came in.. not even on their books yet but they wanted a hell of alot more for it than that.

Its at Monte Carlo Auto on Willian Nicol. Good looking car very neat.

But yah........... my concern is the reliability issue.

Still waiting for the repair history from BMW......... but my gut just says shut up and stay away.

The issue is not about reliability...the x35 motor is very temperamental even in stock trim but issues can be resolved whether it is the high pressure pump or the injectors.

The problem you face is the dealer that you are bying the car from is not going to sort out the limp mode issue...they may get a quick fix in order to sell the car to you...so you may go for another test drive and the car will behave impecably...But you would not know what the original problem was or what was "repaired/fixed". The way this work is YOU buy the car and once it is in your possession the dealership will happily replace/fix the issues under motorplan without them having forked out a cent.

You dont want to buy an expensive car like that....:nonono:

check the car's service history, plenty of X35 cars had their High pressure fuel pumps replaced due to some sort technical fault, this counts only for the N54 engines as far as I know.

My car had its HPFP replaced on 60K after going into limpmode... I have a 2009 model btw with now 89K mileage on and its still running strong :rollsmile:

Akash! i just went to that dealership with a friend and wanted to place an OTP and they told me a guy already got his finance etc etc and the car is sold, and that person is you!!!!!!

dude, that thing has jammers as well, limp mode...i would be worried. seemed it was used quite well before. although what a lovely package.

Yepp its me finance approved and everything,

Just got the dealer repair report and its been in a back smash and rear wind screen and fender replaced.
