Buying 2001 E46 318i M43 manual

What should i look out for when buying above mentioned car? What kind of mileage can i expect from the M43 motor when looked after? I know that the thermostat, waterpump, radiator, etc., should be replaced but how strong is the suspension? I assume that new shocks will be needed. What about ball joints, bushes, etc., and is it worth while going for polybushes? Car has radio/tape with cd shuttle in boot, rear parking sensors and mfsw. Mileage is on 202k at the moment with full BMW service history. Silver metallic with grey leather seats with armrest with some scuff marks on the seats. Bottle top mag wheels with two good tyres and two needing replacement. Paint in fair condition but with some tlc and lots of polish should look nice again. (Pre facelift) Build date is 03/2001. What is a reasonable offer?

I would say around R55k... depending on the overall look of the car...

I sold mine for R52k and it was a SportsPack..., same year model with 198k on the clock

How exactly does a rebuilt engine give you piece of mind?

I have 248k on mine and love it. The plastic fitting at the back of the valve cover are the biggest bug bear - please change it asap if you buy it.

OK, so i lost the car - was sold to guy who had first option for R50k. I am actually looking to buy a E90 330d but will have to sell one of my cars (2003 E39 530d auto 237k km - new turbo or 2003 E53 X5 3l diesel auto 230k km - both in very good to excellent condition)
