Meet: McD's N1 City,
Date and Time: 9am, 4 August

We will be doing a run to the car museum and the 3 Pass’s.

Here is the route we'll take. We doing 186km's from Point A to E (2:37hrs, driving speed limit). Plus the km's from point E back home.

http://goo.gl/maps/Qof5f

Point A: Starting point (McD's)
Point B: The museum, via Stellenbosch
Point C: "Turn around" point after the Franschoek pass
Point D: "Turn around" point after the Tunnel
Point E: Coming back over the Du Tiotskloof Pass

Got fanatics down from George, this weekend

Here is what’s currently on display at the museum, they rotate the cars every few months. Their collection of cars exceeds 220, they can only display 80: http://www.fmm.co.za/on-display/

I've done the booking now. We getting discounted rates because we a car club. Our price is R50 each.

Because we a big group they suggested we split the group into 2, so that their tiny restaurant/canteen can accommodate us. Its a 23 seater.
The 1 group can eat while the other group tours the museum.

They giving us a dedicated area to park and put our cars on display.

Anything planned for July?

Gonna do a run to my dad's clubhouse on the golf course Atlantic Beach, to watch the F1. There's 2 races in July, we'll probably do the 7th if there's no wedding. Will confirm when I'm there on Wed or Thurs

The Franschoek Pass and Museum run last year was epic, and for those keen, the route could be as usual, N1 from McD N1 City through Stellenbosch to Franschoek, and then instead of returning along the same route go through Grabouw and return via Sir Lowry's Pass and N2. A bit longer, but fantastic roads too! :joy:

I will be back for this...

M5 needs a run.

Might I suggest Franschoek then through the Villiersorp valley to Worcester and back over Du Tiotskloof Pass... where there is a tunnel:idea: That adds 50km to the total length. Just mentioning it because I :yuck: that section of N2 from Somersetwest through to R300.

FYI 208km 2h58min on Google earth for Sir Louwries
253km 3h 30mins for Du Tiotskloof.
