Brake pads and disks F30

Reading some posts on the forum on  brake pads etc as Im still trying to get the sweet spot. Got Febi rear disks as advised. Hella break pads which did not last long. Front Diselera disks & LMB brake pads. I was sceptic about the front disk and pad combination but I must say, pretty happy thus far.

Had to get the Febi disks ( not older than 1 year) skimmed 2 days ago and replaced the brake pads with Sure brake pads as per recommendation by the break and clutch company. I must say, I am highly disgusted with the Sure Brake pads. Never had new pads making such a grinding noise. Took it for a bit of a drive to see if it gets better. It is actually embarrassing to drive with the car like this. I’ll give it 2000km. If it still makes this noise, they can shove their breaks.

Welcome, post an intro thread for us!
Given all the headaches, why not stick with OEM? How often do you do brakes?

Yes, OEM probably better. Bought from reputable parts supplier and I expect them to know better than me. Doing breaks as the the onboard computer says it’s necessary, probably once a year. Im not driving too much. Correct me if Im wrong, but do you refer to OEM is from BMW themselves?

You can save a bit on brake pads by sourcing either Textar or TRW pads (which is the OEM pads - BMW just re-brands and doubles the prices in most cases)

Try contacting forum advertisers - ABM https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=91017 for great prices on OEM Brake disks and other parts

Hi bud,

To be honest I used Febi on my previous E90 and Merc W204...The one time, it did that grinding noise and couldn't get it to stop was when I out the Febi brake pads and discs and the fitment process was incorrect.

I sent the car to Merc, They then used OEM pads and fitted it onto the same disc and not a squeek afterwards.
Another buddy did the same thing with Febi Disc and Febi pads, but asked Merc to fit both on and the results were perfect, no noise or grinding etc.

So the fitment and bedding in procedure is most important and I found that was the heart of the results. I was also embarassed with the way it sound, it was horrible...guys should ask me if I was sure that I even had any brakes left ha ha
