Brake dust

Well I reckon anti-static would help prevent brake dust from being attracted to the surface. Also something that gives a good water barrier is good, so a good wax treatment should sort this out. Another trick is to always properly dry off your cleaned wheels - this by itself helps reduce brake dust build-up...

Philip, I've got a bucket sponge and chamois just for my wheels. Left the wheels for 4 days now and looks terrible.

Yep, same sort of thing here. I know most start with washing their car's wheels and then move onto the bodywork. I do the whole two bucket system from top-down, then once all the bodywork is done, I mix a fresh bucket of car shampoo and wash the wheels/tyres. Spray the entire car off, dry the bodywork, then the wheels.

Personally, I don't like sponges because they tend to easily collect dust and particles which will scratch the paint, chamois leather I have noticed is also very abrasive most of the time - so I use various microfibre cloths for all of my cleaning and a good old shoe polish type brush to scrub the tyres...

And after all of this pain (I mean fun) and effort, the brake dust is back soon! LOL

That is nothing, I have a whole assortment of dedicated brushes, cleaning agents, and a bucket, just for cleaning the wheels, callipers, hubs, etc.

The people at work are amazed that I consider a "quick wash" as having spent only two hours washing my car. Then again I am surprised by other people that consider their car as clean if they have only spent 30min on it. :nonono:

All this talk about anti static made me think. Aerospace 303 have anti static properties. So google some but gets conflicting comments.

So cleaned a wheel, and put on some aerospace 303 on 2 spokes. Will give feedback in few days.

I know its sad. Some people at my work are like "check my car its so clean took it for a wash and go"

2 hours thats me quick wash after I get home from work.

Might be OCD might be plain crazy. But I love it. Its my therapy. I'm better now. Use to make U turns when there was water running across the road.

I even clean my moms Scooby for fun when we have braai there.
