Boot Opening Randomly by itself

Hi All Hope you are well?

I hope this is the correct place to post to as I'm new to the Forum, if not, I apologise. I have also looked around and could find this issue anywhere else on this forum.

I have a 2010 e90 330d which seems to have a slight issue with my boot unlocking randomly.

Backstory:
For the last 6 months or so, the boot lid button hasn't worked. Basically I would unlock the car and when I press the boot lid button and nothing happens however I can open the boot using the Fob and the button in the drivers foot well.

A week ago, I brought a new boot lid button and replaced the old on and it. Since then when I unlock the car, the boot lid will randomly unlock by itself without any intervention from me or when I start the car and put it into gear (auto box) the boot will randomly unlock by itself without me pressing any of the buttons. Once I close the boot, again it unlocks immediately and I have to close the boot lid again. This is repeated X times before it seems to stay shut. I have since reverted back to the old boot lid button however this has not fixed the issue.

I have checked the wires around the boot lid button.
I have checked the emergency release function to see if that is somehow catching on something.
I have checked the wires around the grommets going into the boot lid and the car itself but not all the way through the cover as I don't know how to opening besides using a knife.
I can confirm that the valet switch in the glove box is set to the open position aka not valet mode.

Once the car is locked, this issue seems to go away.

Has anyone had this issue before and what the fix was besides replacing the car?

Thanks for the help in advance

Check out my thread under interior/exterior about repairing the wires running from car body to boot lid for license plate lights. You mentioned you haven't looked in there yet but my own research showed that many problems stem from the wires in the trunking there. Your first problem sounds like it was definitely a loose wire as it's actually a pretty common issue on E chassis cars.

Thanks just found your post, it seems you had this battle quite recently. How is the tape holding up?

and if it's doing good, is there a chance you can send the details of the tape or the place you brought it so I can get a role?

Thanks
