RAY OF SUNSHINE HOUSE (R.O.S.H.)
Here is the appeal made by one of the neighbours on behalf of R.O.S.H.
We have some amazing neighbours in our community, which is an out-in-the-sticks area of smallholdings. their manes are Merle and Bobby Ray and they run the Ray of Sunshine House for abused and abandoned babies.
They look after these children, along with their own family, and give them a home. At the moment they have 18 children they are caring for. On Friday morning their house burned down to the ground. They were just getting up and had hardly any clothes on, and absolutely everything was burned.
The neighbours gave them some odd clothes and helped them try and put out the fire but it was too late. They had just received donations of new beds and bedlinen, and one boy had got a new puppy the day before, that died in the fire. Luckily, everyone did survive, and the children were not hurt, although they were traumatised.
They desperately need clothing, bedding, furniture, toiletries,
non-perishable food, baby goods, including nappies, formula, baby food, cots etc etc etc,
And everything one needs to live! The clothes needed are mainly for babies of varying ages, a 4 and 6 year-old and two 12 year-olds. Mum and Dad need clothes too, of course. Merle is a fairly large lady and Bobby is quite short with medium build. Anything that would help the children have a great Christmas would also be welcome.
The "family" of 20 are now staying with Merle's mother, in a two-bedroomed home, and a caravan. What they need most is a place to stay and house these children. They also have several farm animals and horses that the children care for, so in the long term they need to find a similar smallholding.
A rebuild is not possible on the burned out property. There was no fire insurance and it was not quite theirs yet....

If we all in agreement to support this charity, I recommend that we start a list of who will attend the charity run and what contributions can we make. The charity has a bank account if members prefer to make cash deposits or hand over a cheque on Sunday should also be fine.
Their biggest need at the moment is cash, furniture and storage until they have been able to re-establish themselves.
