Simply stunning. The passion put into restoring this car really shows around it. I'm very impressed........... and oppressed.

Ok, now that I've cleaned up the mess and, yes, got myself decent again ( haha Fordkoppie! ), I just want to say congrats Luis on an absolutely fantastic resto job. The car looks simply stunning, and all the effort has certainly been worthwhile. Well done, she looks gorgeous!!!

Much :praise: and many times :bravo:

What a classic. This is very inspiring. I will start with my 1980 M535i may be during December holidays. I will need your help to source those M-stripes.

Hi LBV

Actually did up the artwork myself and got a mate to print them for me.

I plan to remove the stripes Dec/JAN to have the car get its final polish and buff as the paint is still curing. Then I am printing a new set. Your stripes should end on the bonnet sides and dont go all the way around. Also should be thinner and have the purple replced with the dark blue.

I think Mobile tradition still keeps original stripes. You should get from your local BMW , I will try get you a part number, otherwise I can help to have them made up.

You are right on the stripes, I have seen some variants, although the most common stripes I have come across are like mine and Klauses car, except the rear sides sometimes start before the rear spoiler and not under it.

The one thing we realised through the restorations is how many variances we got on some items. Since the cars were mostly hand built some items were only made for these cars. Somewhere along the line they ran out of an item and replced them with a standard production item and then returned to the original item when stocks arrived!!. All the holes in the body were hand drilled, as none of the paterns match from one car to another, except for the bonnet which is pressed.
The black side spats have skrews moulded into them for attaching them into the body. The skrew heads have pieces of wire hand soldered across them to help hold them in the mould. Gearknobs also differ, from wood with the dogleg pattern (Klauses), to a wooden one with BMW badge, which I have, and even the black rubber with the inlay dogleg badge which is in my car currently. Dashboards also differ, I have a dash with a speaker section above the passenger side tray, others dont.

Its whats makes them unique..no 2 alike it seems.
PS.. Love the bike in the pic.

Luis this poster was folded in the magazine and is basically twice A4 height ( 600mm ) and 4 times A4 width ( 840 mm ). To copy it may be a problem sizewise .
Pm me your address and I can send it to you , I think it will have a better home there .
