I'd get a Golf 6 GTI , screw the R , its just a modded example , but at the end of the day , you going to be driving the car , so its up to you

actually not,the golf 6 gti is chain driven, the golf r is cambelt,

reason for this is that vw found the golf 5 block to be stronger than the golf 6 and they then took the audi s3 head and slapped it on aas its better designed.

gti 6 is front wheel drive and the r fwd, also from the audi s3.

so at the end of the day buy an audi s3

thanks for all the advice guys, i do appreciate it. gonna have a look at that bridge thing for the drive way. if that works i might end up going for the 135.
im gonna test drive both cars this weekend after each other so should have a better idea by sunday. i know the 135 is going to be streets ahead in terms of acceleration but i also know jusy how easy it is to make a golf a second or even 2 faster.
the only other issue is that i sell expensive products and i have to see clients all the time. if they start to question why im driving such a nice car they probably gonna think im taking them for a ride, not in my car:) but in terms of pricing. anyways will see
again thanks for the advise.

this could only really be seen as an issue if you driving a ferrari....
On the other hand, it can also show that the product is good and people buy it :)

way to much caring what other people think IMO, just get what will make you happy :fencelook:

I have driven my friends Golf R and the car is awesome, after owning both the N54 and N55 I would buy another 135 over the Golf R.
Currently the previous R32 is trading close to the G5 GTI cos of book value issues, the Golf R could have the same problem.
Stock vs stock the 135 will annihilate a the Golf R

I still believe its easier to mod the 135i. Slap on a JB4 and eat up the tarmac :) Leave everything else stock and keep reliability. This will once again widen the gap on the modified Golf, unless they go to town on the mods. But then how long will their engines hold up, especially with the amount of driving around you plan to do.

Admittedly, I am not the world's biggest VW fan, but you can kick a GTI out of every second bush, and to me a GTI R is seriously just a modified GTI.

The 135 is very low, so you will definitely have to change the driveway; they scrape very easily over bumps. One other thing, the 135 is not the most comfortable cruiser over long distances...

Going back to your left-field choice: definitely go and have a look at the Megane Cup as well; they are awesome cars - they just have nowhere near the power that the 135 has.

All said and done, I was faced with the same 3 choices last year (although I looked at an S3 and not a Golf R), and the 135 won, and I still know I made the right choice! But get what makes you feel best: what car made you smile the most after the test drive?

I can imagine, but I couldnt be bothered with removing all the mods when it comes time for services. The JB is just great for everyday use and is a breeze to remove :)

I remember buying my last S3, and then driving my friend's 135i the same day I got my S3. All I could think and talk about thereafter was the 135i. It was a long 2 year wait thereafter, but I now have the 135i and I couldn't be happier.

As nice as the R is, If you have test driven both cars there can only be one choice in my opinion :)

Also made that mistake 2 years ago when I bought an S3 Sportback. Always wished I had bought a 135i.

I was in the same position a couple of months ago. 135i is the way to go. You do not need to mod it if you do not want to. Its a pleasure to drive in stock form. The :.R is nice but if you want a drivers car then I suggest you get the 135i.

Problem with the .:R is that it has old technology and you WILL have cam follower issues, PCV issues, DV issues etc as this is the same motor from the S3.

My DCT 135 has not given me any issues so far. (touching wood)

both nice cars (135 ) , people will hate regardless, you can drive a pimped out golf 1 and they will hate. In terms of risks all cars are high risk. Heard a tata got hijacked a week ago, seriously a tata...so rather base your decision on passion :joy:
