Bmw x1 key recoding

Hi guys

Friend of mines x1s key got stollen... so he now needs someone to re code his spare so people cant get in his car with the stollen one[UNAMUSED FACE]

Had the same thing happen to me, a dealer had to do it, very painful as the new key never worked.

So there is no other way it can be done? How much did it cost u remember?

I paid like R2.5k only for the inner part(metal key) no remote this was from Club Motors Randburg, for that price I would have expected the key and remote, but apparently not.

This was for my wife's X1 back in 2011, so prices would have changed.
