BMW says 1.3-million cars affected worldwide. Recall due to battery cable cover in boot which could be incorrectly mounted.

Affects the 5 & 6 series - 2003 to 2010.

More info to come...

It's on 702. The BMW Marketing guy was interviewed. Said to call your dealership or call centre. They'll be sending letters.

"Cable cover". Can't imagine the seriousness based on that. Need to read the article to see if there is more to it.

According to IOL the battery cable cover was not fitted correctly and over time could chafe through causing electrical malfunction.

The fact that they are recalling 9 year old cars is disappointing. Usually faults are found shortly after the release.

lol, to be honest its a tad better than what some of the other manufacturers have had ..

and besides .. its fixing something that could "possibly happen" ... right ?

not something that has gone massively wrong ?

imho .. its not a big deal
