Hi guys, looking for a good BMW workshop in and around Cape Town CBD. Zeemax was the first to come to mind although I seem to remember some s**t-storm that went down with them. Want to get some rear trailing arm bushes fitted. Recommendations?

As far as I can recall the closest to CBD is Brilliant Mechanic Workshop or Bruce's.

I think Zeemax also moved from Paarden Eiland.

If you are willing to make the trip to Bellville then Garage 808 will also be worth it.

Care to share your experience? Both my cars have been going there for the last 3 years. And so have many other forum members cars.

I took my 330 and jeep cherokee there for servicing and changing all gasket on the 330 because of a leak i had and also to replace a engine mounting.

On the 330 a couple of weeks later my wife heard a funny noise as i was out of the country by then....a buddy of mine had a look only to find that the bolt of the starter came out and knocked one of the pulley's in its glory...i contacted them and ask them if they by any chance worked on the starter and they said yes they had to remove the starter to do something(I cant recall what) and i told them then what happened cause it means they did not fasten it properly and then they denied it was their fault.

Then a couple of days later the same with the Jeep but something else they did not fasten properly.
Also asked them to have a look at the diff of the Jeep cause of a knocking noise and they told me the diff is in its glory and need to be replaced...R36 000:flyfun:
Only to find that there's a mounting ontop of the diff that was fooked and needed replacing at a cost of R2000....Jeep is still going strong with no knocking or anything.Diff is 100% perfect

So there you have it...that's my experience with them so they'll never see me again...always good to get a second opinion i guess

Ah sorry about your bad experience. By the name you mentioned for the workshop was before the time I was using them and they had some issues. I can assure you this wouldn't happen these days.

For instance one of the 30 odd times my cars been there one of the technicians were obviously careless and broke the plastic piece thay wraps around the dme unit and holds the cabin filter.

Pointed it out to them and they changed my breaks for free. Which would have been an hours labour. Got the part from the breakers for R150.

Who did you speak with who said your diff would be R36000 and about the issues with your car.

I always used them in the past before the "split" and then continued using them after as well.
I cant remember the guy's name but he usually books the cars in when you called.
He told me that I should bring the car back so they can see if it was their fault or not:blab: they were the last ones working on it:flyfun:
But i'm glad you or any other forum member are getting good services there but for me they're just a big no no:thumbdo:

Ah ok. They have a good team working there now. The guy who deals with the parts and bookings has been there for about 2 years now. So hopefully they've got rid of all the bad apples.

They are busy with my manual conversion and are doing good work. Car should be ready tomorrow or the next day. Just needs to get software from autologic uk for the auto to manual. And then it's good to go :D
