Hello all,

I have been browsing www.vwgticlub.co.za and found that a few current BMW owners registered on the BMW Fanatics site were all once GTI drivers.

Is this just a coincidence maybe?

Definitely not just a coincidence...I've noticed myself that many a gticlub member have made this forum their new home. I assume, the same as with their cars, that when they grow up they all get a BMW, they tend to move to this forum as well as part of the growing-up process:rollsmile:

Some fanatics own more than one brand of car also...His and hers...wich in most cases is jus his and his, lol. For example I joined bmwfanatics way before I even owned a bmw, I was still a Volvo T5 drive back then

I am a member of that forum as well, I just find the guys on this forum to be easier to get along with. Been to more of your guys events than i have the vw ones.

If i could find a M135i for the right price i would trade my Roc in and go for it  but alas they either have too many km on them or are too much moola

I always owned a Vdub in my life over the years and Nissan of course.
Only have two VWs now. Great cars.

The Vwgticlub is a very established & knowledgable forum and I enjoy browsing there for ideas and tips.

Of course we have our own VW forum (vwfanatics.co.za) which has a long way to go but its a good place to make a home too.

I believe that many VW owners have welcomed the Forced Induction division at BMW and therefore made the change on that basis (unsupported claim).

Also the M3 has always been the benchmark for most (another unsupported claim).

I think I'm registered there too. I had a seat cupra tdi before my 530d and attended one or two vwclub events. I learnt to drive in a Citi, which then got stolen and wasn't parked where I parked it when I got back :/

A lot of guys started with (and still own) a VAG of some sort.

Parts are cheap and you can get them at shoprite.

My old citi life has been passed down to my younger brother and its happily ticking its way to 900000km

VW made a great first car for me. Very next car was a E30 - haven't looked back since :D

Ford Escorts were my first cars, next car a 1985 318i E30, also swopped a running '81 Citi Golf (probably would have set it alight :ka-boom: if I didn't) for a non-running '90 318i E30 and fixed it up, also haven't looked back since.

How many km on a BMW is too much? My E30 is going for 300 000 km, engine has never been opened, regular oil changes and this M40 motor is still sounding as sweet and smooth as the day it was born.

Just to compare, we have a VW Polo Classic 2005 at work, a month or so ago it cost R20 000.00 in repairs because some odd thing was wrong with the engine and gearbox, still do not know exactly what it was, but it cost R20 000.00 to fix!
