**not a repeat of the world record thread**

Hi All,

A few BMWfanatics members will be taking part in this.
Johnny8bit (silver E36 328i) and I (blue E36 328i with yellow wheels) will be doing the time trials and born2boost (Golf 5 GTi) will be taking part in the race series.

Anyone else?

If you are going, please take lots of photos of the cars on track and post them in this thread. Im sure I am not the only one who is keen to see what my car looks like on the track.

It would be lekka for you to come say hi to us in the pits also.

Nice one!

:bravo:

It looks like the model aeroplane and helicopter guys are coming out to play too. There has been a request made to take as much footage as possible, especially of the record attempt. A few of my friends are bringing their toys so will have first hand access to some aerial GoPro footage. Should be a good day.

Was a decent day over all. Ultimately did what I went there to achieve, that was to improve my previous best lap time. Managed 2:13.8 on the day as per my timing printout. Still some work to do but not bad, happy with the result.

There were a few organisational glitches which made for some frustration but not going into it. BMW Club had lots to worry about on the day and a few slip ups here and there can be ignored. Just this once.. :)

@Bruce - Nice meeting you, even if it was briefly. Car looks better in real life than on the pics, and seems to be going well too.

So how did you do?

I will post what footage I have once I have had some time to go over it all.

Good to meet you too. Unfortunately I kept missing you. Took a look at your car though.... Very nice bud and it sounds awesome on track.

I'm very happy with my car but felt it didn't have enough power which I suppose is to be expected. I did start getting the feel of the car and building confidence as the day went on.
I had a bit of a race with a Porsche who passed me on the back straight. I managed to keep with him through turn 4, 5 and pushed him through the esses at turns 6 and 7 but he then just pulled away on the straight up to Wesbank where I gained on him a bit, but then he was gone when he hit mine shaft. I also had two great spins...one on turn 3 which was a 360 and must have looked impressive as I spun and ended up going in the right direction after the spin. The second was on turn 11 when I was a bit late on the brakes...at least I didn't leave the tar though :) ....I didn't get to see my times but I don't think they were that great. I'm guessing probably only in the 20's but now the fun starts with modifying.

I do think with my standard exhaust, I had the queitest car there though, so that will have to change quickly. :)

Good stuff. First day out with an untested car and you posted a time (whatever it was) and brought it home, good going by my book. Turn 11 is the sharp right at the bottom of the mine shaft right? I've spun out there too in the past, and I see in one of my rear facing videos a white E36 had a moment there too.

Was it the yellow Cayman?
