Which tools do you need? For some of the older boxes I have some spares, I.e. spanners and screw drivers.

Looking for the Clutch Fan Tool. Need to remove the Fan and Housing. Phoned BMW but they say they don't sell tools. Only parts.

I also have the dimensions for the tool. Thats why im looking for someone to maybe just fabricate it

Just buy a thin size 32 spanner from Midas or Autozone to remove the fan. That is what we have always used and it works very well. Also remember that the fan is reverse thread so in this case it is lefty tighty, rightly loosy

I have watched some vids and apparently the "trick is to use a 32 spanner and, like you stated, hammer it lightly to the right to loosen but to use a long screwdriver wedged between the nuts that hold the belt in place so they don't turn or break off when trying to undo the fan nut

The "special" tool holds these nuts in place when undoing the fan nut

Oops I meant 32 spanner. I have seen the special tool but it really not needed since no one ever tightens the fan since when it turns it tightens automatically.

I have not tried to loosen it with just a spanner. I usually get impatient with working carefully and then just hammer away and break something. So im scared that i might break the nuts of the pulley/belt.

Im not sure if the fan has been removed in the time i had the car and if it has seized or tightend through the years i don't want to force it and break something

Spec Tools have most of the bmw tools but they very expensive i would try everything first before buying ,,not sure what tool you need but they have most :fencelook:

Fab it yourself, its 3mm flat bar about 25-35mm wide with 2 elongated holes in it...won't cost more than 50bucks in material
